honestly we got started around 10pm est so a good number of nerfs came out before we did or as we were raiding so take what you will from that.
1st boss was decently challenging and alot like the ony fight but just tuned quite a bit tighter.
we had the luxury of seeing the streams of the attempts and a few kills to know the strats but some of that changed mid attempts so bleh.
overall it was fine when we killed it and is a decent challenge and quite doable .
btw we had like 26 people so ya.
before the first boss and after the first boss the amount of trash was like at least 30-50 mins worth of trash between both . glad to see they nerfed the health and explained the setup for the 2nd boss fight. wouldve been good to know but everyone went in blind and we diddnt want to reset and eat into raid time.
2nd boss got changed like 2 times (or at least seemed to) during our 5 attempts on it.
the biggest problem we had was the tank switch as nobody had the weakaura to see and announce it and communication was a problem.
other than that , the adds at first seemed unmanageable then later were either nerfed or we suddenly got better at the fight and kept them tamped down.
on the 4th attempt someone came up with the zerg the boss strat and we did and got her to 15% before the lack of tank switch got us.
we tried 1 more time to less success and decided to wait till next raid night to continue.
i would suggest either slowing down the add spawns or reducing their health or something to make them more manageable and some indicator to show you need to tank switch aside from weak aura or dbm for those that refuse to use them.
cant wait to down the 2nd boss and get further in.
over all its tuned a bit tighter than people expected and is on the whole harder than even hm4 in naxx including sapph and kt.
I went in with my guild group on day of release in the afternoon, and it was something else.
The mobs felt like raid bosses themselves with the amount of health and damage they had, it felt as though we were re-doing a moderately difficult raid (just for trash).
Soon as we got past the trash, which took us a good hour from learning and wiping, we finally made it to Balnazzar. I tried a couple of attempts only, because I was exhausted from previous events earlier in the day. But those attempts I did try, I was like “What is going on here?” I was lost.
That and it didn’t help though that we had 2 healers that weren’t healing (800 hps or lower), but the boss still presented a hefty challenge. I didn’t see the guild get past it, so I can’t say much. My experience was just the trash mobs mainly and I felt they truly needed a big fat nerf.

ya the trash was like combined from before first and to the second 50 mins or so and ate up alooooooot of time though we were killing at a good clip.
after the nerfs to the first boss before or during the raid it was highly doable and much like an ony fight though way more tight tuning and hectic at the end.
mind you my raid team is quite decent and we had 26 so i can only imagine an avg raid with only 20.
2nd boss got changed like 2 times in the 5 attempts we did and if we had figured out how to track the debuff with a weak aura we wouldve downed it too and maybe got 1 or 2 attempts on the next boss.
it was 1 am when we called it for the night in hopes we could get the weak aura thing figured out and come back at it with fresh eyes.
over all its harder than nax hm 4 even the last two bosses .
and thats on just the first trash and 1st boss that it starts to get harder.
needs some tuning though i havent been back in yet till sunday on my other guild.
some dudes were trash farming for orbs and had a group of 7 and were killing the trash so maybe its been solved.
Yeah, Blizzard posted something recently about nerfing the mobs at least, which was sorely needed.
But they didn’t do much with the 2nd boss, but just nerf health by 5% and the amount of adds. So the bosses are still pretty tough, but at least it’s not gonna take 6 hours (exaggerating, don’t @me) to get through Praetorians and Clerics.
hehe.
really if you are running 25+ you shouldnt have trouble with second boss after a few attempts if you have people doing what they are supposed to.
especially if a tank switch thing comes out to save us all the headaches lol.
im sure theres a fojii or something.
It made me want to go back to retail if that says anything. I don’t know how to explain it but when they put a bunch of mechanics in Classic that feel out of place, it just feels clunky.
Perhaps it’s because retail characters just play better and have more buttons to press idk
it wasnt as bad as it looked earlier in the day and now that the trash is nerfed and a few of the bosses nerfed it will be better.
i hope we full clear next time im in there.
I think the environment and theme’ing are peak. The chaotic nature of the fights…does not make me confident. Watching top guilds progging the later bosses right now and it just looks like mechanics spam. I can’t explain exactly what’s different between watching this and watching Sunwell PTR back in 2022. This looks way less feasible for an average group.
They really need to do some rethinking on how they design these fights.
as far as im aware there willl be a icc buff type mechanic that will come in place in the next week or so that will either nerf the mobs 5% or buff the players 5% or something to that effect.
this is on the grapevine type stuff but it might be true.
even just the first trash and boss is harder than naxx hm 4.
i cant see them not toning it down somehow within a week or two and then pugs getting in the week after that.
I’m enjoying the raid, but noticing it’s feeling more and more like retail raiding that I’m not interested in

as a 20 man raid the worst thing that has ever been put into wow. as a 40 man that everyone is doing sure challenging but its intended to be a 20 man soooo yea worst raid ever made epic fail
dogwater. you can tell no testing was done on the difficulty, and the inside portions of the dungeon that mimic SM are much to small for 30-40 people. Lazy Blizz at it again
Its kinda head scratching that blizzard somehow did no testing on this. I guess it goes hand in hand with us beta testing sod for them FOR FREE. Why not continue with a raid. lol
I dont get why go away for a formula that has worked… normal and hardmodes. I dont have the time to spend 4+ hours in an instance anymore. GIVE US NORMAL MODE. =) lol
Yeah this is exactly why I stopped playing retail. (one of the reasons at least lmao)
The raid bosses are just over-designed with 10+ mechanics that you have to memorize and constantly deal with at all times. It’s like it’s designed for ADHD zoomers who can’t stand still for more than 5 seconds; always have to be moving out of fire or changing targets or responding to some buff/debuff at all times.
I want some fun mechanics but not a barrage of constant mechanics being thrown out at all times.
