Thoughts on the darkshore troll village?

what are your thought on the darkshore troll village? should players be allowed to kill the trolls and obtain the fat lootz, or should players be banned for going there?

…like… was it wrong to go there and do these things before?

kinda!?!?

it was a unintended location for people to get to, as theres no real route to get there, but if you know how, any class can get there

Same as the IF airport, under SW, and GM Island.

Ban 'em.

What is the Darkshore troll village? Is that the dancing troll village? Because I got there once. And I can assure you the npcs have no loot. It should absolutely be in Classic.

they 100% did have loot in classic, they dropped runecloth, and lots of it, they also dropped greens blue and epics, as well as a few other items i cant remember

I can guarantee there is (was) a leveling exploit there. If they allow it they may want to insure that exploit is no longer a thing.

If it is an area which players were not intended to be able to go, then Blizzard should absolutely take firm action against those players who go there, IMO.

I don’t know what to tell you. I got there, I killed them. Dropped nothing. They also gave no exp. It was, however, early TBC, so it’s possible earlier they did.

As far as the other places people got to…again, who cares? As long as it doesn’t give some kind of advantage, why restrict it or punish players? It’s just a video game. I hope the devs take a more laid back approach to Classic. Players are there to have fun, so let them have fun.

Does it involve wall-jumping, because if so, we won’t be able to get there anymore.

I remember watching a video in Wrath showing how to get there, but I don’t remember the details because Cataclysm made it moot.

there is a wall climbing way, a couple of them really, but i know of a another that has no wall climbing

We’ll just have to see, then. It would suck if they removed those details from the world that were visible from flight paths. I don’t think they’ll do it.

im not saying they should remove the trolls, but maybe just the loot

I was reading the wiki on it and it says they give exp and loot…so I guess they did. I went there on my dwarf paladin, and I might have been max level already so that’s why I don’t remember getting exp. I do remember thinking…‘there’s no reason for me to be here.’ So whatever they dropped was in such small amounts it wasn’t worth it. Might as well go farm a dungeon for cloth. If they do give exp though, that would be an issue. Depending on the respawn times.

well, they respawn quickly, they die super easy, so as far as farming them goes, they are super good to farm, which is bad for the classic economy

I still have my doubts about the exp they gave or the drops they had. If it had been a big deal, Blizz would have removed it. People would have lived there if it was efficient for farming or leveling. But they didn’t.

what makes you think i didnt spend hours and hours farming runecloth to sell and get my epic mounts?

I don’t want to go too far into it, but consider a non-hostile but attack-able high level high XP mob with 1 HP that has a fast spawn rate. Now consider two like that side by side.

Why would you ban people for harmless exploration?

It’s not like Blizzard themselves actually mind, either. Back in vanilla there was a segment on G4 televising how to get to the IF Airfield, and Blizzard still never fixed it, or banned anyone for going there. It was an unintended thing, but it’s just harmless fun regardless.

flooding the AH with items like stacks of runecloth is not harmless
