Thoughts on Restitution?

I love that we basically have our own version of a shaman’s ankh with Restitution, but my only gripe is that we don’t get to choose when to use it or save it. Anyone else feel like we should have that control, or are y’all good with how it is?

I think it would be too powerful if we could use it whenever we wanted. You can also usually find a way to die if you want to get it that badly.

It’s insanely powerful and I’m surprised they let us keep it at all. Most people didn’t take it before so it wasn’t on the radar but I’m afraid that now that it’s recommended to take that they may nerf it.

It’s a decent duration invulnerability that allows you to heal without worrying about mana or moving out of mechanics. It’s a way to solo take a group soak and not consume a single battle rez. It’s an extra life for the healer-- Two full bars worth of HP before they actually die.

It’s an awesome ability. I miss not being able to rez with it though because it made for some very clutch raid saves.

Stop power-gating hpriest… The spec is in need on some utility and this is probably the only thing they have (And they have to lose 1min GS for that)

Btw think he’s talking about when to rez like Rsham ankhs instead of just insta rezzing when the angel form has finished. Not activate the effect whenever we want it

It exist entirely because priest has dog crap mobility and non existent defensives.

It is like the devs tried to calculate some sort of balance and said “well priest can’t move, they have no defensive, they are a liability to key timers, so lets let them cheat death and be able to heal for free in the process”

It’s a stupid logic they are following in my opinion. But it is what it is. If they wanted to keep it like this they could have at least kept the free battle res that came with it like last season.

Efi, it would be helpful if you mark the content you’re talking about before giving your opnion.

Restitution might be good in raids, but it is quite bad in m+:

  1. if a party wide wipe happens, it gets wasted.
  2. at best it can be used twice through the entire run and you cannot control when it happens, again gets wasted if it triggers at the end of the fight, for example.
  3. While on CD, you cannot benefit from your normal spirit of redemption if you die, you just die instantly. without this talent Spirit of Redemption triggers always on death with no cooldown.
  4. It competes with our only other utility - Guardian Angel, thus it does not ADD to our poor utility kit, it simply changes our kit.
  5. It does count as death and so penalizes the group with time left reduction.

I have not played pvp for quite some time, but from what I heard, it sucks in pvp (especially battle grounds) too.

Which further reinforces the problem that Blizzard only think of Holy Priests as Raid Healer, continuously disregarding our problems and underperformance in all other content.

correct and even worse if it is a party wide wipe, It is going to count as 2 deaths because once the angel form ends, You are going to die again. So it is a HUGE liability in keys.

Are you trying to say that you need me to let you know, when I’m the second comment in a thread, that I’m replying to the first comment in the thread? Or are you trying to say that when I choose to give my opinion that I need to specify and remark, specifically, what form of game content I am sharing my opinion about?

I do think it would be nice to have Restitution REQUIRE an amount of healing to revive, and if you don’t meet that requirement, you don’t revive and it doesn’t go on CD. If you do meet the requirement, it goes on CD and you can’t benefit from Spirit for the normal duration. Then set that required healing to a couple holy words and like 5-6 flash heals in terms of amount so that you won’t ever hit it with random bouncing PoMs

But, I just disagree with this notion that it’s bad in M+ or a liability.

There is a reason every good holy priest is running it in keys. Because it’s simply more valuable than 1min GA (Also GA wasn’t really even utility? It’s crazy to even call it that IMO). Also I’d say Symbol of Hope is significantly more valuable than GA still, too.

Restitution is actually good in M+. What triggers me is why it should compete against Guardian angel… I hate how much they power gate hpriest, it’s not like the class is bloated with utility, in fact, has none and the HPS is not even the highest.

I like it because I sometimes get distracted by someone dangling a shiny object near me and I get pancaked.

Or, like last night when I was passing something back and forth with my wife and I took a laser of some sort to the face. Now, I can laugh at myself and not just curse myself.

I definitely feel like I can prioritize someone else over myself while it’s up: both myself and someone else are low health? I can Power Word: Life them first and foremost.

When that Restitution buff is up, it’s like a big “lock in” flag, because you don’t even go into Fail Angel.

Still, happy it’s more accessible.

I think since we can’t choose when to use it there should be some sort interaction. Either if we heal enough we can res someone else or the debuff timer is reduced. Say if we get above 75% health when we spawn or something. I just feel like there’s a layer of depth missing that could be implemented to make it a bit different from “worse ankh.”

Restitution is peak fantasy holy priest interaction, and for some reason blizzard do not want to explore it and instead power-gate it for no reason at all

Yeah I’ve always felt pali bubble seemed thematically better suited as we’re not warriors and strictly devotees. But the idea we can revive and get some sort of bonus for doing well in serving and sacrifice would be cool. The self revive too many have for it on its own to be compelling thematically. So, adding a dimension on it would be nice. Instead of how much you heal dictates how much health you get back… maybe its a reduction in the res timer? That’d be more interesting.

In Raid it’s pretty handy and resets with each boss

In PvP it’s better in Shuffles/Arena than in BGs/RBGs where it resets at the end of each match

Have you verified you can only use once per match? The ability has a 10 minute CD. Should get 2 or 3 times in a lengthy battleground match.

Restitution would be amazing if it didn’t count as a death to the M+ timer is basically where I’ve fallen now that I’ve been playing Holy more.

The fact it still does is just incredibly annoying - and the only thing that explains it is I guess them wanting to stop cheese strats. But… just let the hpriest have the cheese strats IMO. They lack all kinds of things that are pretty core to high level M+, so why not let them cheese a mechanic or two in a dungeon and burst heal the group during it?

In shuffle and arena it does reset at the end of each round/match … so in shuffle you can die and resurrect in all 6 rounds

Im sure it’s RBGs as well … but uncertain about regular BGs

What I was getting at is you should get more uses during the matches if it’s longer than 10 minutes. Or is it only one use per match?

I was in an RBG yesterday and running with Restitution, and was able to ress twice during the match
