I agree with him. Our damage WILL get nerfed, it’s just like back in early wrath. Ret dmg was very good, then BAM. Nerf bat to the face.

Mcconnell doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Ret DPS is fine (even before the changes), and people need to stop complaining about stuff not related to mobility. Ret Utility, and DPS is middle of the pack and average. Which is where everyone should be. It’s called being balanced.

What did Paladins get in SL to actually bring back a sense of class fantasy?
The time and effort Blizzard spent on Paladins was wasted on Blessing of Seasons, continuously going around in circles. It’s extremely apparent and extremely disheartening.
We’ve been saying it since the changes to ES and when we got FR. Too much damage that will be nerfed.
This is what every person who doesn’t play a paladin but gets bursted by one says. LOL balanced… The damage will get nerfed and they’ll get nothing in return. There’s no balance there.
I’m sure the burst will get nerfed in PVP with exec sentence, which why we needed a gap closer instead. But on the damage meters my Ret is doing just fine, and people whining about needing more damage as Ret obviously don’t play anything but Ret. Like Mcconnell , who seems to play nothing but Ret and whines about other specs as a result while barely touching them.
blizz just want to give us tons of burst as an excuse not to give us what we need so they can nerf us the very patch after the expansion release
We’re just gonna end up like we are now after the nerfs. The damage is way overtuned on beta though at least in PvP. They need to just give us Long Arm back, and DP. Then lower the damage in PvP a bit.
What is fr and es?
History shows that Rets burst will get nerfed and without mobility and strong defensives the spec will likely suffer…
However, “if” and its a huge “if”…the current damage isn’t nerfed into the floor, then Ret has a place in both PvE and PvP. You don’t have to stick to a target long to drop massive FR and ES bombs in PvP…where as in BFA you simply cannot stick to a target in arena long enough to put out sustained burst.
That said, I don’t think anyone should be upset when the nerf hammer comes down. The damage coming from the FR and ES combo is a little over tuned. The question is, does Blizzard gut the damage or tone it down a little?
Final reckoning and execution sentence
Given that we got a round of changes weeks ago when I already didn’t expect that anymore, I wouldn’t rule that out. As Tahonto said: cross your blessings. Still baffled that they didn’t change or outright deleted Ret Aura given the overwhelmingly negative feedback on that.
can you link where Mcconell only complained about damage? Cause I’m pretty sure he’s been advocating for sweeping changes and bug fixes, not damage changes.

I’m seeing the same mistake from the same names back on alpha claiming ret is fine…
If all you wanted for ret to be fine is more damage why don’t you switch to the fotm?
Probably my last post here on the paladin section from BFA makes no sense to “argue” with people that made the same mistake that they did back during alpha. I don’t like talking to walls.
… McConnell’s comments were after the first Savix video in which Savix got destroyed. Notice how Savix wasn’t fighting Locks and heavy CC classes accept that Frost Mage (which I still don’t know how lost). Everyone knew from the Preach video how stupid op the Pali DPS is. DPS I don’t think has been McConnell’s main complaint, it has been CC in PvP.
It will stay the same or be nerfed into the ground. There is no in between.
