Thoughts on mage boosts?

This assumes that those players boosting would be in your group if only the mage boost didn’t exist. Which is not at all guaranteed.

Boosts have no meaningful affect on anyone but those directly involved.

Doubt I managed to convince some boosters to do SM with me as a noob healer.

The hyper focus on end game ruins wow. Period.

Oh yeah im not saying there guaranteed gonna be in my group but it would significantly improve those chances.

What makes you think this? I don’t think you can actually truly know how much it would improve your chances of finding a group in a timely manner.

That’s what we call anecdata.

Not that I agree with it wholly, but I’ve been playing this game on and off since vanilla. I’m done with the grind, I did it for classic and again for TBC here. If I want another toon, I think I deserve to skip all that content that I’ve done over and over again throughout the years. I’m a hardcore casual

I dont have a number sure but theres like 30-40 ppl in SM most of the time (not counting boosters). If mage boosts were banned thats 30-40 people actually playing the game and running the dung.

Here’s where the issue lies. You can’t actually say this. Is it not possible that if mage boosts were banned, those 30-40 people would instead quest and not bother with dungeons? Or maybe, they just wouldn’t bother with alts at all, and instead say that leveling takes too long without mage boosts.

You see how many variables there are here?

Players create the problems. Players find loopholes in mass farming dungeons for xp. Players exploit certain mechanics with hardly any punishments from blizzard. Plays exploit early and often. Players buy gold illegally for convenience or to get into gdkps to get the gear they want. Players server transfer to other realms to get an edge on resources/pve raid or dungeon control. Players in this community are toxic. Let me know if I missed anything.

Thats a good point I still do think there would be a increase in players actually running the dungeons though.

I mean… I’m sure some.

But generally when people boost, they are choosing the fastest available method of levelling. If it were removed, I think they would largely gravitate to the second fastest method, then the third, etc.

Running dungeons with strangers is one of the slowest possible ways to level. Far too much downtime.

Even if 1 pull boosts were not in the game, people would still boost. Used to do it all the time for guildies.

It’s garbage.

I think it just blows my mind that some people willingly came back to an old school version of the game where they knew the grind was part of the game just to buy boosts and gold.

If that’s how uninterested you are in Classic WoW then you should have just stayed in retail. Leveling takes a weekend and you can buy gold legitimately over there so you can mostly just raid log.

look i get that, i don’t even have a second 60 yet and i’ve been playing since classic day 1. but i don’t deserve it either, and that’s why i don’t have a max level alt. that’s just entitlement that’s infested retail.

My take on it is quite simple…

The day I pay money for a game, a subscription to play said game, the equipment to play the game on, plus an Internet connection to access the game with and then decide to pay someone either real money or gold obtained in the game to skip 90% of the content of said game because I don’t find it fun or enjoyable — two things need to happen:

1.) I should really try to find a game I actually enjoy playing more than 1%-10% of

and

2.) I should really get my head examined.

Easy!

Thanks.
