I am not getting other trinkets as I don’t raid. Guess, ima just start gearing my dps now that I am unable to go higher lol

Even though the drop is somewhat small and Miniscule, I’ve always wondered for personal reasons, is there a reason as to why everything is based on or researched around the little population that Runs Mythic vs the more general population that Run Heroic? Like why does Mythic Raiding have to be the more Definite reasoning to everything.
The only real difference between Mythic and Heroic is that there’s usually extra or different mechanics, everything hits harder, and the raid is fixed at 20 players. Mythic is obviously more harder overall.
So when specs are tuned around Mythic: they’re tuned around their maximum theoretical damage/healing output. However, people aren’t tool assisted automatons so there’s always going to be variance between a high skilled player who’s put 1000s of hours into their craft vs somebody who is new to the game or less experienced.
Heroic/Normal is just tuned down to such a lower bar than Mythic that you can still get AOTC without requiring the giga Mythic comp that needs every single raid buff checked off.
So the answer? Blizzard has to cater content towards every kind of player. The hardcores and the casuals. It’s the same deal with M+ you can just push keys to however high or low that you feel comfortable with.
Hello Caithyra! I am seeking your help again, I am playing the discipline spec in the dungeons but not very comfortable or confident on it yet. I have been trying to learn from your logs and other top logs and have been using your 25 of Throne of the Tides:

My damage is consistently about 10k lower than yours, and I have general questions about the top logs. First I am wondering if I am shielding too much and if this causes mana issues. Am I casting way too much smite? I have been trying to get more mindbender uptime so usually I try to get the smites out, but I think sometimes this takes priority over my healing. Another thing is I thought maybe I can stop using penance often because I see top logs not using it in the damage breakdown, that seems bugged. But should I ever use penance on a person or always damage with it for atonement healing? Another thing is that I forget to use things like rapture, pain suppression, and barrier, how do you remember to use those or do you plan out your use of them? Is it better not to use rapture, and do I need to take power word life if I don’t - is rapture used mainly as an emergency heal by disc players?
Does divine star or halo matter? I decided to change to halo because I forgot to use divine star all the time. Do you notice anything else that I am missing or cast sequences/patterns that I should change? Also, how did you make the decision to stop using mindbender and are there any pros/cons or differences you have noticed? And does it matter who you put your mindbender/shadowfiend on (for aoe inescapable torment, I have not been optimizing this at all) and is it bad to use it at the end of a pull? And do you know in what dungeons it’s ok to drop mass dispel or other dispel talents? And, can I macro fade into something, do you do that?

Xdarkzero, thanks for telling me about caged horror cancelling penance, I was wondering what was going on with that, I will keep that in mind and maybe remove that trinket.
Just taking a look at your logs…
I feel like you should switch from Mindbender to Shadowfiend since you have your 4-piece. It’ll reset less often then Mindbender, but you get more overall benefit from using it. Stronger Essence devourer, more damage, less interrupted GCD priority, etc.
Really the 10k difference is just coming down to items. Iridikron staff, Nymue trinket, glacial fury phial, etc. and Rhapsody Holy Nova + Divine Star. Add all those things in and you’d beat me in overall dps.
Divine Star and Halo are decent. Not great, no bad. They’re your only short cd AOE ability outside of Rhapsody Holy Nova.
I’ve looked at others logs and a lot of them just straight smite spamming with Mindbender to try and keep a 50%+ uptime on Shadow Covenant the entire dungeon. I personally haven’t tried that playstyle because it feels way too busy.
Also, a lot of the time overall dps is really just dependent on pull sizes, and how fast you clear the dungeons. TOTT is really hard to time unless the groups doing at least 900k+ overall on a +25 or higher.
