I’ve been trying to play around with firestone, but I’m starting to feel like it was a dumb thing to do. I haven’t seen any warlocks with a melee weapon out or a firestone equipped. Does anyone use/like this skill and it’s talent?
If it’s used for anything it’s the bonus to fire spells. At low lvls the melee dmg isn’t too bad, though, tbh.
it’s not really worth using or investing in
I use a firestone and have the talents in it as well. It still does decent damage. I pair it with Claw of the Shadowmancer so my melee attacks can do some pretty good burst damage if both of them proc. I think I can do over 110 a hit if I proc both of them which is good considering it doesn’t cost anything, obviously even higher if it crits. I think its a good fall back when you are out of mana but spells will do more damage consistently. It procs pretty regularly too. It feels somewhere between 20-40% proc rate.
As already stated though I feel like its main perk is increased fire damage to spells. Because the skill is in the demo tree I plan to pair it with soul link and instead of using the affliction drain skills which is the standard spec with soul link i am told, I plan to put my points in the destro tree fire skill talents instead as it synergizes with those skills. For example i can use searing pain all i want because i have soul link so it doesn’t matter if i have aggro as much.
This actually makes sense since with soul link I won’t care as much about being in melee range for the dagger attacks. Add on top of that that I will be in range for hellfire as well.
All that said, I am sure my build is not anywhere near other builds in efficiency for end game but I don’t care, I am having a blast using it.
Last Note: Last parse I saw put me on par with mage DPS at my level in SM library with full demo talents and this play style.
