Thoughts on BFA 8.3?

I’m a casual player who strongly dislikes toxic grouping, am mentally and physically disabled but really like WoW. Frankly I’m disappointed in what I’ve seen so far of this patch, for a number of reasons:-

  1. I don’t like “dark video” as I think it hides poor quality visual artwork (not dark imagery).
  2. The story line is presented almost entirely using exposition. Any decent author should know that you show, you don’t tell. This is really disappointing by Blizzard’s usual standard.
  3. Yet another meaningless currency that renders all previous currencies irrelevant.
  4. This patch feels like a time consuming grind that lacks cohesion.
  5. Still more wasted time traveling around the world via an all too recently crippled portal system.
  6. I’m on a tight budget thanks to a fixed income, however I dislike feeling that a company as large and successful as Blizzard should be - and that is what this patch STINKS of.

I’m disappointed with in this patch. It does not do WoW justice. A very poor effort.

This patch reeks of carrot-on-a-stick mechanics in order to cajole players into playing rather than focusing on providing us fun content. I feel like players have repeatedly said that chores and time-gated grinds are not fun, and yet Blizzard time and again keeps doubling down on this approach.

8.3 is making me BADLY miss the meta map events from Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, which was some of the most fun I’ve had in an MMO (outside of coordinated friends group content). Dragon’s Stand never stopped being fun, and I honestly I ran it purely because it was fun and not because I wanted some reward.

I don’t know if I should be blaming the fossilized WoW engine, devs being uncreative and/or out-of-touch, or corporate suits making stupid design demands from the devs to try to keep players playing. But this is definitely not a good direction for WoW and if this keeps up, I will be quitting for good. I want to play an MMORPG, not an overglorified mobile phone time-waster game.

Didn’t do a horrific vision.
Assaults are boring.
Dailies are boring.
Cloak feels meaningless.
Corrupted gear feels like Azerite gear pre-fix when you had to grind even the first trait to unlock the trait. Not fun.

Oh there is a new raid and the same dungeons.

Yeah 8.3 is a dud for me.

Its good.

10char.

8.3 was the last hope for BfA, after blizzcon with the devs admitted the alt unfriendliness and ridiculous grinds along with time gates were a mistake people hoped they would do something different.

instead blizzard doubled down on grinds and timegates, it forces people do activities that arent fun because they need the rewards to be decent characters and punish them if they dont play for a week.

They are abusing psychological behaviors like the fear of missing out and losing stuff if you dont play.

The thing is, fear never works long term, it will keep people for a while but people are gonna be fed up long term and leave, and when they leave, they ll leave until major changes are introduced, not a new patch.

Horrible. I’ll be playing Classic and Rocket League for the forseeable future.

My auction house is broken and that is my only joy of this game right now.

I’m enjoying it for the most part shrugs

Pfft no they’re not

Since all I’m doing is grinding old raids for gold, to buy the Brutosaur, I’m guessing it’ll be June before I get a chance to play 8.3 content. Thanks for nothing, Blizz.

I think the patch is a 6/10. It’s how I rate most of BFA.

How to detect ignorant people that have no idea about psychology or the gaming industry. Everyone with even slight amount of intelligent or information knows companies abuse a number of psychological weaknesses on you to profit, blizzard and some others just become very blatant and extreme at times.

But that is something you cant understand so go back to play le fun video games, no need to think or analyze.

I agree i can with np play alot of games in one day np without feeling that way lol!

I would give the patch a 7/10 if not for the terrible memory leak that alot of players are experiencing myself included. Game freezes for 1-5 seconds everytime you get near a quest giver or open your character screen. Game also crashes with a not enough memory error code. Game is almost unplayable.

Patch 8.3 is a 1/10 for me until they fix this. The technical forum is full of reports or freezing and some say they reported this on PTR. No excuse for that.

This patch gives you something to do , but no patch can hold people for so long , so my prediction is that after 3 months of 8.3 everyone will be calling it the worst WoW expansion, and for the rest of the year until Shadowland comes out.

I think I would’ve preferred another selfie cam and social media integration patch

While I’m doing BFA content enjoying it still as I’ve never done Alliance side and this is my new main, I’m not sure if I’ll like it or not but I will say what is 8.3 in wow as a patch would be an entire expansion for SWTOR, so in terms of content droughts or devs not caring or giving up, I feel like WoW isn’t that game / the dev team isn’t that dev team, you could argue this in WOD but that was WOD
