Thoughts on BC and WotLK servers

Blizzard will only entertain this idea if Classic is successful. They won't waste their time and resources if it isn't. I personally would play both tbc and wotlk. Tbc for the pure fun and blood elves =) Wrath for wintergrasp haha miss that place

I have a hunch this will be but maybe that's just me. Given nostalrius was at like 1 mil members at it's peak (granted it was free but it also wasn't a legit version made by the company/not fully know) and WoW now (if the numbers were right) is only at 1.3 mil active subscribers. Honestly I'd play everything. Bounce around expansions and still play new content when it came out to see where the game is going.
I would dance naked in the rain if they announced a wrath server.

I don't think I want them anymore if it means there all going to run the BfA client...

I dont see why unless you are referring to sharding and what not which I get. I don't understand the people freaking out that you can up the graphics, if you personally dont like it put it on classic. I get that old graphics are part of the experience but the stuff they added is minimal and affects barely anything. Other than that and the fact that they have to remove more legion junk still I don't see what's so bad about it.

im down for it after 2-2.5 years of vanilla

That's why I said start with vanilla and then slowly add them like we are rereleasing everything all over again. Then just keep them as permanent fixtures.
I honestly hope so, the only allure I have ever had for going back to vanilla is not the game itself. Was it good, yes, but it was also fairly unpolished compared to TBC and wrath. The people are what I miss from vanilla, and classic coming out isn't going to make my friends who quit for IRL reasons and the couple who have passed away come back to the game.

As far as game play, I would probably prefer TBC or wrath honestly, they did dumb the game down some, not to the lay face on keyboard roll left to right collect loot at end of dungeon level that we have had since.
I'd love a TBC server. Except for the smaller world due to the nature of it being an expansion, TBC is the best version of WoW. It preserved the best of the community aspects of vanilla, but had better class balancing and good quality of life improvements. I'd like a TBC server with a bit of better class balancing (mages were too weak at the end for example).

World PVPers may prefer Vanilla since no flying, but by and large TBC was better in almost every single way.

WotLK added too many things that began the deterioration of the game imo.
Edit: typo

Im 100% for it,
My only concern would be different versions of WoW siphoning its own playerbase, turning Retail, Classic, BC etc. All have low populations (theoretically)

That's why you would limit the total number of servers for each based on need. Combine them and what not over time as they settle. We don't need 100 of each.

To be clear I mean full blown combine, not crz or phasing/sharding.

I would rather convince blizzard to do it and get the experience through them thanks. I don't wanna risk them shutting down, losing everything, unmonitored issues, etc.
I was already going to absolutely champion for this idea, but I want them to get through getting Classic to us first, then I'll set my sights on BC and Wrath.

PS copying my character from classic to BC and so on WOULD BE AMAZING
I ultimately would like a WotLK server, but am willing to play classic and hopefully BC while we wait for them to do the work and hopefully get some returning subs to support the effort

As for progression, I'd like to see them maintain separate servers. If I get to the end of the Classic expansion and am ready to move on to the next expansion. I would like to see a "transition" server that you would enter for ~2 weeks to experience the world events pre-launch. This should be the free way to get from one expansion to the next. You could always do the paid server transfer if you want to skip the transition.

I don't like the idea of making a "copy" of your character and leaving the old one behind. Somehow that doesn't feel right. I wouldn't cry if they did this, but I would make it a move and not a copy if I was making the decision.

Of course you could always create a new character on any server and level up from scratch all on that server. I think it probably goes without saying that you should be able to transfer up, but it doesn't really make sense to transfer backward.

"There are no current plans of developing any future content past Patch 1.12, or an eventual transition to Burning Crusade."
This is not a direct quote from anyone on the dev team but from an incomplete paraphrase in the interview highlights. The actual answer from Brian Birmingham seems to view the possibility in a positive light and Ion at the Blizzcon WoW Q&A echoed the same sentiment. To summarize: Blizzard will gauge the success of Classic as well as the demand from the community after Classic has gone live and make decisions from there. Nost and other Vanilla private servers had planned TBC servers, indicating that much of their populations did not want to stay in Azeroth forever.

The thing that will most help the possibility of TBC / WotLK servers is to play Classic and continue to express desire for expansions. It should go without saying that expansion transitions should be optional and Classic should be left intact.

No expansions. If you want expansions, play retail.
What a great idea! I'll play retail Classic and ask for expansions!

I want TBC more than anything else blizzard could possibly offer. With that said let us slow our roll here and focus on the upcoming release of classic and giving constructive feedback to make that successful. That is the best way to help ensure we get TBC and Wrath.
The Classic can be played for 1 to 2 years until they safely take out a TBC. They have even mentioned the 4 stages that the Classic will have, with Naxxramas as a pin. By then there will also be a new expansion after BfA.
If you do what is mentioned in this thread, after the TBC there will be a Lich King ... and so with all the expansions at the rate of approximately 2 years.
But, it will also be advancing the current wow with subsequent expansions to BFA at a very similar rate.
The content will always be late. Is it worth playing Classic or playing the old content in the last expansion? ... the typical low level missions of the previous expansions?

Joke of a server, selling cheap gold right on the website, good luck getting a functional economy.
Personally I'd love a BC server. That would be my final place to play. Wrath I wouldn't mind either but I think I'd be stuck on BC.

Let's see how vanilla goes first, see if Activision can keep their greedy fingers out of it.
I loved TBC and i missed out on Wrath until the very end, between the two i could see giving the Wrath server a go.
Well they are going to add content to Classic in "stages" right? So it's really not staying at 1.12.
So it kinda makes sense to add TBC and maybe Wrath much later down the road
I'm not really a huge vanilla fan I'm just hoping it goes smooth so that way eventually we will get TBC and WOTLK servers.
