As someone that’s played on both SR and DP, I personally would love a server merge. Get both of my characters together, but that’s also selfish reasoning.
Are there any cons to it, other than one server not liking the other?

The most obvious ones to me, are that people either don’t get to keep their names, or you have charactername-servername as names, which some might not like, and some people may really enjoy the population levels are they are now. Oh, and Skull Rock is Pacific Time while Defias Pillager is Eastern Time.
There are doubtless others that don’t immediately come to mind.
However, I don’t think that question is really what you’re getting at. If you mean, “Do you think it would be a worthwhile thing to do?” then, I don’t mind personally.
If the servers in US looks like the ones in EU where I play (one big, one smaller) I’d advocate for them being kept separate. Some like the village feel of the smaller server, some like the bustle of a bigger one. Quite apart from the name and time zone issues. Alsoin EU at least the bigger server still has layers. Abd i mistrust layers, so keep them separate.
I would suggest, down the line, not now, to merge first for level 60. Maybe some kind of dungeon tool so thet there was a larger player base for endgame. It is not yet a problem and maybe it will never be, so no need solving problems not there.
Tl;dr: Never touch a running system.
The servers should obviously be merged. Anyone who plays hardcore knows that there is no benefit to having two servers. The population is clearly not close to requiring a login queue, and it almost certainly never will be that large.
But i doubt blizzard will do it. From the perspective of someone who played through classic->wotlk, observed them manage server population there as well as make blue posts about their rationale. They seem to be very ideologically opposed to taking any active actions to manage server population. They only do it when their hand is forced in the most extreme circumstances. Additionally, they state opinions on ideal sever size that are extremely small relative to what players want. It’s a very bizarre stance on server size imo.
The only bad one is the one Snipy said
I am on DP which is the bigger server so its unlikely for me to lose my names, but if I did I would not be happy.
Everything else is irrelevant. “population levels” lol.
I love the idea. Skull Rock has an okay pop for horde and Defias pillager has a big pop for Alliance relatively speaking. Merge them and I’d get to see the other faction sometimes. I’d also feel more comfortable rolling toons on the other faction.
This would be an upside to any merging. I prefer smaller servers too, but I think the overall population from both servers when combined would still be small enough where it wouldn’t feel like just another Mega server. Another plus would be more WB for everyone.
blizzard has never done a server merge safe to say it’s never gonna happen. too complicated, too many moving parts, etc.
I mean, even if they put them in a cluster like era.
you can’t do that with servers on different time zones
“The servers should obviously be merged.” What’s so obvious? Sounds like an opinion. What is the benefit of only have 1 hardcore server and what datacenter would they pick?
dont care either way
