Just getting back into the game from a long time away (Cata). Got into SoD recently and am having a great time. Love the active community of awesome players!
My favorite thing about SoD so far is the level cap gate system. To me this is the way of the future concerning classic WoW :). In future seasons I think more content added to the vanilla game would be really cool. Totally new raids at the level cap gates would be awesome. I think blizzard is doing a great job with this addition overall though. Really love the raids and new PvP content at level cap.
I don’t like runes. Having to ask someone for help to complete a class quest/ability is frustrating. and now I have way too many abilities. I like the idea of changing the way classes and specs work over time, because that keeps the game fresh. But I wish they just changed the Spellbooks or something, because adding Runes changes everything anyway.
I don’t like the xp boosts and mount cost reduction. I have never liked the idea of making things easier to acquire later (other than raid and dungeon tuning). I think it’s a slap in the face to the players who achieve getting to max level and acquiring a mount. It kind-of makes since because SoD is new, I hope they remove this if they continue Classic WoW Seasons in the future though.
I think making it easier to get to max level and reducing the cost of getting a mount from the start of the season would be a better way forward. I think boosting quest xp rewards would be great, I don’t love that dungeon cleave is the most efficient way to level right now.
Thank You for reading!
We’ve had 2 Seasons. Season of Mastery and now Season of Discovery. Both have had XP boosts. I think it’s reasonable to assume that future Seasons of Classic will have an XP boost.
perhaps we simply need a way to distinguish those players from the rest.
maybe a title for making it to 60 with the xp boost off
you could do similar for folks that paid for their mount
Barriers to entry are something we all naturally want. No one want to pay for an education or credentials and then have to compete with someone who did not.
You are not alone. Taxi drivers, long haul drivers, accountants, and teachers all have had their barriers challenged and have fought back. Some have won and we have legislation to show for it. Some lost… or won depending if you ask your uber.
But in this case, since it is a game, perhaps Blizzard can give those hard core levelers some recogonition.
I think a more accurate comparison would be if over time Taxi Drivers, Long Haul Drivers, Accountants, and Teachers all made more money for working less hours. And unfortunately that is not the case lol
human beings are commodities. we are subject to supply and demand. barriers to entry are really about self preservation which is completely natural. but like you point out, the world could be better. if it weren’t the real world of course.
