Thought about maining a BDK in 11.2

Then I see they are taking away slappy hands.

Aside from lower CD on grip, anything making up for this loss? IE better tanking, more dps, more utility?

Sadface… every video ive seen so far ranks them as the worst tank now.

Nope.

Just 15 seconds of Grip of two charges.
Uncapped AMZ with a cooldown of 3-4 minutes.
An instant Brez that you have to manage your Resources to someone’s screw up because it costs RP.
And… uhh… Insidious Chill with a good amount of slows/CCs.

That’s… really it.

I believe there are still new things to come for all DK specs so I would wait if you are not really maining the class yet.

You did not read notes correctly, lower CD on grip was for DPS only, not for Blood. Blood (San’layne) did receive 80-90% damage nerf to the biggest AoE ability - Blood Beast, which in some runs makes 20-30% of my overall damage in S2. Also both San’layne and Deathbringer received straight 3% haste nerf.

As of right now (Season 2) San’layne has one of the biggest DPS potentials in m+ among tanks. In Season 3 it is no more.

The only positive thing is a minor QoL change for San’layne, that will make it easier to maintain boneshield.

To me it so far it looks like playing blood DK next season means:

  • (-) Having worst mobility of all tanks;
  • (-) Having worst mitigation;
  • (-) Having one of the most difficult rotations among tanks (if not the most difficult);
  • (-) Having no unique utility (whatever utility you have, can be brought by a frost / unholy DK, except for Gorefiends Grasp, which is very expensive to take and if inferior version of vDH sigil of chains).
  • (-) Having Mediocre AoE damage (better than druid and maybe better than prot pala, worse than Brewmaster, Prot Warrior and prolly vDH).
  • (+) Having the second highest self sustain (second only to Vengance DH, who has also best mobility, best mitigation, simple def rotation, one of the best unique utility and prolly higher damage than you).
  • (+) Possibly one of the best, if not the best single target damage among tanks (this applies to San’layne only and you will have to sacrifice your already weak mitigation in order to go for high ST damage).
