its soooo bad
bad
bad
I echo this sentiment.
Overall, I like Waititi, but this movie fell flat. It tried too hard to inject goofy humor into every possible scene for cheap laughs, and I feel it ruined a lot of scenes. I mean, this movie tried really hard to be a comedy at every point, and it got to the point that it absolutely detracted from the movie.
They kind of stayed true to Wandaâs character arc. Lots of going back and forth between good and bad in her history, and she has gone completely off her rocker at least once. The character canât carry her own solo film though. I am sure we will see her again sometime.
They gave Black Widow and Captain Marvel their own movie and both of those characters are trash (movie version; no idea about the comic version.)
Scarlet Witch/Elizabeth Olsen was 10x more interesting.
I couldnât understand giving Black Widow her own film, even though I like her, as I do Wanda. And Captain marvel is definitely trash these days, but there was a time when Carol Danvers was actually an interesting character. She was never front line, and never will be, but I understand the concept of Marvel trying to create their own Wonder Woman.
They didnât really stay true to her character because AD/HoM were exceptions for the character and not the rule. Unfortunately the MCU didnât have much of her time as an Avenger and being a hero, nor her leading teams. AD/HoM werenât even really about her, and didnât really include her much. And the earlier Darker than Scarlet that those events were inspired by was just done by John Byrne because he hated Vision. They were basically hack storylines and would be like doing One More Day for Spidey in the films.
Remember, she started as a villain in Magnetoâs brotherhood of evil mutants. That didnât last very long for her and Qucksilver, but it did happen. The whole Wundagore mountain darkhold thing came before Byrne as well. Iâm just pointing out that Wanda has had a pretty tumultuous history.
So we are in 4th week of Thor Love and Thunder and still havenât broke even yet. It will break even by this weekend but to doing that within 4th week of this film released date, that should make Disney nervous.
Sort of a villain. She wasnât maniacally motivated to join. Mags told the twins that he was doing good things for mutants. They joined because they felt they owed him for saving their lives from an angry mob. When Mags wanted Wanda to murder Iceman, she refused. They tried to get away from the Brotherhood, but when they went to the F4, Johnny and Ben thought they were being attacked. So they attacked Wanda and Pietro. So then they ended up back with the Brotherhood, where Mags punished them for trying to leave. They then left again to hide out in the Swiss alps. Then found the ad from Tony in the newspaper recruiting Avengers.
Wanda is in thousands of comics issues, which span almost 60 years. Most of those being a hero unless possessed or manipulated. Which is a comics cliche that happens to many heroes. So no, the movies did not get her right. They defined her by three of the worst comics about her. Because they took everything diverse about her, boiled it down to âmy babiesâ and turned her into a plot device.
The thing I hated about those comics the most is the were the worst retcons that did not make sense to what came just before that.
The Darkhold thing didnât result in mass murder at all in comics. Sheâs possessed and the Avengers save her. It also went into the Darkhold and Chthon lore better.
One of the worst movies Iâve ever seen. I walked out with about half an hour to go, because I was sick of the utterly juvenile dialogue.
