Thomas the Altar Boy -- Finally Saying Something About This

May we do something interesting with this character? Maybe we ask him quite rudely why he hasn’t aged a day since former King Varian (Light rest his soul) was safely returned to his people many years ago? What I headcanoned has no meaning, but considering how interconnected the franchises almost seem to be I delighted in the irony that Thomas the Altar Boy could be ‘someone more from elsewhere’. Please do humor what I’ve written below, as it would tickle me if there was indeed a ‘crossover’ segment planned in WoW beyond the opening and closing of otherworldly portals:

Speech Bubble Optional Dialogue: “You never seem to age a day. Why is that?”

The altar boy lists his head slightly to the side. “You mean since Bishop DeLavey’s request to you? People have always told me I never seem to age. But I swear I do! I’m much older than I was then! Just look at this and you’ll understand.” As he is speaking he slips you a piece of rolled up paper and walks off in the direction of the crypts. You unroll the paper and find that there is something written upon it, but you can’t seem to understand what it says as the letters seem faded from exposure and time. Your quest to find the altar boy takes you beneath the crypts to find him at one of the lowest rooms, his back turned to you.

Thomas turns and sheepishly rubs the back of his head. “Gosh, sir/ma’am, you shouldn’t say such things so loudly. But you have saved this city and many people countless times, so I suppose you should know the truth.” He bows courteously. “It is true that I am not who I seem to be, but believe me when I say that I mean these people no harm. I come from another land, you see, and I am Bishop DeLavey’s closest confidante in matters concerning the ‘Light’, as he calls it. Where I am from, it is a quite more literal perception of holy wrath than the spells cast by your traditional priest or paladin.” He points to the paper you now hold, “That was originally the incantation used to summon me here from my former home, and even if I tried retracing all of the runes I doubt I could return there. For all this world’s flaws, it is a better place to live than what I used to call my sanctuary.”

As you are deciding on what to do next the boy approaches you and holds out his hand in a silent gesture for you to return the paper. Whether or not you decide to is ultimately your choice, but should you choose to hold onto it he uplifts a finger, incinerates the paper and hands you a copper coin with a smile. “Let’s keep this between us, hero of the [Horde/Alliance]. Perhaps one day this topic will resurface and we will have further business with each other, but until then, try not to inquire so openly about my age and appearance. I like my new life here, in the cathedral.”

He walks off, leaving you to your thoughts and gazing at the copper coin he used to compensate your time with.

I’ll take that as a compliment!
I like thinking of small side-quests, segments or stories that could exist with the enormous world that Warcraft is featured in.

The jig is up, Thomas is actually 43 years old and only looks like a child. You ruined his career!

You’d think he’d be a Paladin by now.

Maybe Topper McNabb is his dad?

Thomases, Thomii, T-Bone!

That is one of my favorite songs of all time. It’s a shame that they didn’t last longer.

I remember back when they played it live on MTV springbreak in Daytona a couple of ‘years’ ago.
