Multiboxing kinda does create a negative experience for the average player. Typically, Iâve found two places where this can cause a big of griefâŚ
In retail, it messes with the economy. Folks running multiple characters effectively get X times the resources (X being how many accounts they have) since everybody can pick the node. This is a non-issue in Classic though since a node despawns when any one person picks it.
In PvP, it circumvents normal coordination requirements. Focus fire is simply too easy. Landing 5 high damaging spells on a target at once is very difficult to defend against. Having 5 normal people communicating and working together to target and cast their spells at the same time can be done, but it requires more coordination than your average person. For a multiboxer though, it requires nothing more than a click and/or button press. Iâve always found this to be kinda crappy. I do think that this provides an unfair advantage, bought and paid for.
The situation the OP describes kinda sucks, but itâs nothing really any other group of 5 people who are jerks and want to steal tags can do. Multiboxing has been around a while though, so if Blizzard was going to do something about it, they would have by now. It kinda sucks because I do feel it generates a bit of a pay to win situation, but it also affects my life very rarely.
Youâre 60 already, Iâm sure you cheated away with raid xp, used broken aoe taunting to run groups, and layered jump at willâŚShould they take away your acct as well?
What an awful troll that any decent forum mod would ban, but we donât have forum mods because Activision-Blizzard only cares about money. Which is also the reason we have to deal with pay to win multiboxers in a triple A MMO.
I think multiboxing should not be allowed because of my experience in Stormwind back in teh day. THere as a multiboxer shaman controlling tons and tons of shamen. All stacked on top of each other, all casting the same spells. This single person decimated Stormwind for hours. Its clearly not intended game play for an individual to be able to decimate Stormwind.
That being said, in all the time Iâve played WoW. Iâve only seen that happen once. So its not exactly a major issue. Still dontâ see why its not against the rules tho.
So you are jealous you have to talk to people?? And by god if you have to talk to people, everyone else has to as well?? Look at a hunter they can usually pull off an escort quest, elite etc other classes canât and not die in the process should we ban hunters too?? Hunters can pretty much do anything they want on their own. Guess itâs just another reason everyone hates hunters.
You canât ban someone from being antisocial, I was antisocial on my hunter but did just fine by myself soloing⌠what rules did I break?
You ever do a gathering quest? You need 8 stone idols that have a horribly slow drop rate. In comes the multiboxer with 5 toons. He needs 40 of those idols with the same hideous drop rate.
Oh wait, he kills way faster with all those guys, drop rate is irrelevant! Yeah, quicker kill, still 5x the killing. Add to that a greatly reduced XP per mob rate because youâre in a party of 5. Grinding is part of the classic experience but in a group that just means massive slowdown.
Now add in the extra time it takes to do something as simply selling your trash and repairing, making bags for your party, mining or gathering herbs.
A 5man multibox is slower to level and way more complicated than the solo route. Was he rude? Fine, call him out for that, but donât cry because heâs decided to add a whole new layer of complexity to his gameplayâŚ
1 player versus 1 player, the mutibox/keycloner has a clear and obvious advantage. Are you actually attempting to make the argument that 5 players with single characters each being able to take them down is a âdisadvantageâ? Really?
