This Rush mentality

To get stuff finished/over with

Myself/time

Yes. A long break. After I get KSM/AoTC I take a break until next season.

No, but it just drags it out for no reason. I go hard for month 1 of a season, then take 5 months off

Don’t you have some cats to tend to?

The Quickening…

I wish! I love cats, but sadly am allergic.

The rush mentality is just efficiency + the incentive theory of motivation. If the content had no rewards, you would have nobody rushing it because the only people doing it would be there for the fun of it. Yes a leaderboard spot also counts as a reward and speed run times can be ranked. No I am not advocating for the removal of rewards, I’m just saying that what happens should not be surprising.

What is wrong with rushing? Why should someone want to take 10 hours to do something when they can do it in 5, and spend that extra 5 hours doing something else?

People speed run everything. Even Balders Gate 3 has a speed run community. Super Mario Brothers has a speed run community, and that came out in the 80’s.

But, when you say “speed run” what you probably meant is “overgeared players who are essentially soloing trivial content”.

You want people to slow down in dungeons? Make them harder.

There is content I like and there is a lot of content I do not like. A bunch of the content I do not like is mandatory for the content that I do like. If they’re putting a gun to my head to get it done, I want it done as fast as possible.

Leveling is a chore. It’s like a roadbump. I’m sure if you’re new you’re enjoying the ride, but most of us have been around for nearly twenty years. We’ve gone through the journey many, many times. It is no longer fun. However, it is mandatory to go through it if we want to enjoy the content we do like (max-level content).

There are two solutions: cheating/expensive (buying boosts), or rushing. People who don’t do the first end up doing the second.

This is not the case in this expansion, but usually you have some very important power gain gated behind the rep. This power gain is mandatory to do the content most people like. You not only need to get this done with a gun pointed at your head, but you need to do it as fast as possible as every day you don’t get it done, you’re losing precious performance. In badowlands you’d feel crippled without the second legendary. Likewise in BfA from not having enough neck/the right corruptions/the right neck powers.

Any way, people are not bound by some code to enjoy every single content in the game. The game is clearly designed to have a big end-game focus with M+ and Raids being the stars (and PvP as a neglected adopted child). If you only enjoy M+ and Raids, anything other than that is seen as a chore, and when you’re doing chores, you just want it to be over with as soon as possible - therefore, rushing.

So I can ignore it the rest of the season to focus on the things I do enjoy like mythic raiding.

Faster its done faster I can do another or in the case of mplus it literally has a timer.

Like all players who raid its progression the faster you go the more pulls and practise you get for the encounter.

Cause if it wasn’t important it wouldn’t be a quest would it? As it is important better get it done (threw in some rp world logic for you)

Cause thats when I can start doing mythic and profession content.

I love how we’ve finally hit the point that when someone tries to say this, multiple folks point out that the “get to 100% completion NOW and finish the content NOW” mentality has existed for years and years before M+ ever actually existed.

Some people just play WoW (and other games) solely for the rewards and/or completion. The goal isn’t the journey, it’s to stand on top of the hill and be happy with what they’ve done, then be done until the next hill is released.

The annoying part is when those same folks complain about lack of content knowing full well that they just finished putting their entire adult life on hold for 72hrs to go MAXIMUM GRIND in the most unrealistic series of play sessions imaginable.

Why go slow when you can go fast?

People rush… its what they do.

I don’t rush and don’t care. There is no falling behind. You progress through the game at your own pace. This is the lesson that more people need to hear but won’t.

You’re talking in the forums of the biggest FOMO community in gaming.

It’s unfortunate what the community has turned into.

And they have the audacity to blame m+…

This community created a problem that exists nowhere else.

In PvP, even casual PvP, you will. So you either have to rush or somewhat-rush, or you get rolled over.

let them rush. they’ll quit early and the game world will be ours.

They created and play M+ ,what did you think was going to happen ?? if not GO GO GO

Sometimes after doing a quest I stealth and go afk and happen to see someone else swoop in and do the same quest I did 10X faster. They can accept a quest in an instant, fly over and pick up 4 pieces of wood or whatever off the ground, kill the bad guy and turn in in and be gone faster then I can say “what the h…”

They should revert to the old ways, quest text should scroll REAL slowly and not allow you to continue until its all scrolled.

Welcome… adventurer… Wrathion… Needs… YOU… to… pick…up… 4… pieces… of… wood… and… kill… the… evil… wizard…who…dropped…them…but…first,…the… history…of…wood…

I blame the dilution of loot.

No guarantee of loot or payout after I finish a M+? Pfft.

Don’t expect me to bother doing them.

So we should spend more time not winning things?

I only enjoy end game pvp, the faster i can get to doing that the better.
