This Rush mentality

This type of behavior is poisoning the game in the long run. And what is the point of rushing? And who are you competing against? Are you going to win anything? Are you seriously going to fall behind if you don’t rush like honestly?

Rushing in what you ask? This is a small list of things.

  • Rush in gaining renown/reputation (most expansions)

  • Rush in dungeons (normal/heroic/mythic)
    (Most expansions)

  • Rush in raids (most expansions)

  • Rush in questing (most expansions)

  • Rush to max level (most expansions)

If you’re going to rush then what is the point of playing a mmo if you don’t want to enjoy the content that you’re in?

You can blame M+ for that.

Retail is kinda like cotton candy, it can be a fun experience but then you realize its mostly just thin air and sugar most of the time.

Fixed it for ya’.

But on a serious note, this isn’t a talking point. Regardless of whichever portion they are referring to as “rushing” has been part of the game since the vanilla days. Heck it even had the time trial style back then as well with Dire Maul, but between folks being awful and no other frame of reference … an hour was regarded as quickly.

This is just a talking point used by trolls and people who aren’t just wearing rose tinted glasses, but swallowed them Kirby style and became a pair of rose tinted glasses.

You only have yourself to blame if you decide to pug, if you wish to go slow or at whatever pace simply find a group of like-minded individuals or perhaps even a community/guild that also enjoys that pace and then you won’t have this issue.

Rushing only happened in Classic after people completely overgeared everything. Never from the start until Wrath. If you tried rushing before getting geared up in TBC and vanilla you got owned.

We rush because it’s easy content and there’s no reason to be slow just for the sake of it.

Someone missed Wrath.

Has OP elaborated on what we’re rushing yet?

I don’t see the point in slowing down in most 5 man content, and not even because M+ either, but what’s the point when you’re usually there for experience or gear, most of which you want to receive asap so you can move on to the actual content.

But for something like rep with the new ED faction? Not really sure what the hurry is.

Which content are you talking about? I understand it though. It’s a trickledown effect. Starting from the end of WotlK to now. But dude the game is 20 years old almost and most of us that have new characters have been playing already for years. This problem will never be solved because it cannot be solved. If you made a filter for LFG and made it’ new players only’ you’d be in LFG for days.

I still get peeved when I make a tank, and dps pull everything. It sucks. But I understand the mindset. We’ve already got like 10 max lvl characters and we don’t want to be here.

Sucks for you but to make it equal would be to destroy the game, that’s common sense. There’s no math involved. There doesn’t need to be any scientific equations letting me know that “little timmy joined the game and I gotta dumb it down now, this crap sucks F you deal with it” would cause everyone and their mom to drop the game. The only way to deal with it is to git gud. That’s the world we live in. Go outside in Montana or the Canadian outback, git gud and deal with it.

I only ever felt the need to rush only after blizz took away the ability to earn things with mage be tower. Now I’m not really sure what will be taken away if not earned in the right amount of time.

Before that I could be pretty chill and just enjoy the game knowing I could come back to stuff later or take my time

I agree, I didn’t articulate it as well as you did OP but I made a thread about it as well but mine was more specific in how this mentality was ruining the dungeon experience.

Dungeons not fun and its not even Blizzards Fault - Community / General Discussion - World of Warcraft Forums

Thankfully delves are becoming a thing so I can just ignore these people in the next expansion and go at my own pace.

I don’t personally find rushing thru any type of content fun and only do it myself when I am trying to get to what I perceive as “the good part.”

But if others like that sort of highly competitive race, with a fear of losing spots in the bestest of the bestest dungeon and raid runs, well, it sounds crazy to me, but I say let them have fun in their way, while we have fun in our way. :upside_down_face:

A big part of this is because the tiers are so short, now.

There’s over 300 guilds working on Mythic Sark who probably aren’t going to get a kill. I know people in some of those guilds; it sucks to work all season and not cross the finish line because Blizzard is rushing out the next tier.

Especially when there’s going to be a stupid non-tier Fated reruns “season” at the end, which makes shortening and rushing the 3 actual raid tiers make zero sense.

So this isn’t a player thing. Why is BLIZZARD rushing out 3 raid tiers just so they can recycle them for a few months at the end?

Honestly it’s always been around and I always hated the mentality of a video game being a job. It outright creeps me out and disturbs me. A video game serves one purpose in the world and that is to bring you enjoyment. Jobs serve an entirely different purpose in the world and that is to bring you income. Treating a video game like a job seems silly to me because most of us do not enjoy our jobs why would we want to ruin our game experience with that same feeling? Unless ya know, your a streamer or something and the video game literally is your job then I understand.
