This patch is suppose to last us almost a year?

Ok first off, I am enjoying the new zone and having fun; however, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little concerned that this is supposed to be the last content patch of the expansion. From what I have seen there is no way there is more then 3-5 months(5 at the best) worth of content in this entire patch, never mind a year. With everything I have seen players will be done with all they can do in 3 months. What are they supposed to do for the other 6-9 months before the next expansion? This doesn’t seem very well planned out because if players have nothing to do they will just move on.

My guess is they will do some sort of 10.2.5 and 10.2.7, both with new events, maybe one with a new zone or new addition to the zone.

Well, first of all, like Rita said, there’s going to at least be a .5 patch. But the elephant in the room is that this zone isn’t really the game lol. It’s a piece of supporting content to get you into the game. The game is raids and mythic+. If you aren’t interested in cooperative, competitive pve, instance-based content, you’re probably not going to be that satisfied.

Yep, and they’ll do a half way patch, then a fated season.

The zone or plus the raid + keys m+.
Cause the zone a lone does not have MONTHS of content.

Thing is, we will never get a zone that has people enjoying a zone for months on end.

Do other things in the game also, it is how it always has been… just saying how I see it.

MAYBE 11.0 will change that but for now, heck, unsub if you hit a wall and/or have nothing to do you enjoy.

This zone will be empty pretty fast IMHO but c’est la vie.

No, there are gonna be other patches. This is the last raid patch.

I’m not sure - - I’m sure they’ll add story bits here and there but I can’t see them doing a content mini patch.

come up with their own adventures in this virtual world shared by hundreds of thousands of other players.

This. I don’t get why people act surprised all the time. There has never been a “This patch is so big! It’ll last you an entire year!” moment, outside of initial expansion launches perhaps? The standard with a new patch is new zone, some new activities, and seasonal updates to raids and dungeons. Whether or not you do all those activities is on you however. DF as a whole has a ton of content tbh, I’m still working on “The Forbidden” title achievement which takes forever since I’m just now working on it. Still haven’t even maxed out on Siridormi reputation.

Some guildies and I are of the opinion that they’re banking on Classic: Cataclysm to pick up the slack. Once people get bored of Amirdrassil after a few months, it’ll be - “Well, why not try some Classic?! That’ll be fun, right?!”

Honestly I think you may be right there> Also to clarify something, when I said zone I meant the raid and everything there is to do with it including the season. Sorry I should have been more specific, Yet the point I made still stands, with this being the last content patch it is going to be a long year.

Spoiler alert: The majority of players only raid at LFR level or do lower M+ keys during the bonus week.

The reality that this game needs to provide an outdoor or solo-instanced endgame—or watch expac sales and sub numbers continue to decline—is taking a while to sink in I guess.

Everquest is calling from 1999 because it wants its business model back.

Fated incoming

Even the ones who do raid and push higher content are very quickly going to get bored.

This expansion is the closest to WoD 2.0 we have ever come. It has been an “x-logger” expansion, it had social media integration via Twitch, and now its going to be drawn out until the next hyped expansion comes out.

Spoiler alert: They know that it is not financially viable to create enough content to keep most players entertained for 6 months, so they expect players to unsub. That is the way most major MMOs work.

Right after huge promotions for a 12 month sub, sorry that doesn’t add up.

DF has sort of felt like WoD to me. I’m just kid of waiting it out.

It’s also interesting how Legion came out with world quests as a new feature after the raiding-only WoD flopped so hard, and TWW is going to come out with the new feature of delves after DF sold so few copies.

Correct.

The whole reason raiding works as a business model is because you are basically blowing up enemy model assets, adding mechanics, and expecting players to stand there in the same environment assets for hours at a time, over the course of months.

M+ is also pretty cost efficient.

May as well let more players in on the fun with delves.

Thats not gonna happen.

I havent even gotten my main to 70 yet and do emerald dream and all i hear is how lackluster it is. Lol
