To start off your idea for the rework with:
“MM is a sharpshooting sniper sitting in a tree 100 yards away with no one and nothing around to help them including no pets.”
And conclude it with:
“This is why MM will now have an imaginary eagle flying around with them that they will be required to use or they physically can do nothing”
I truly don’t understand either why the core of this rework is centered around Legion MM but substantially worse. Why is Aimed Shot still the longest hard cast ability in the game? Why does it still have a cooldown? What is the positive gameplay impact of it having charges? Is there a GOOD reason it can’t be used while moving like before?
There are dozens of things we actual MM Hunter players have asked you to do for years at this point to make the spec feel more fluid and yet somehow you have managed to ignore all of it. To say “MM’s rotations feels very smooth and iconic” while ignoring the mountains of feedback from real MM players telling you the opposite in keys and raid is just mind boggling.

I think you might feel a bit differently after the ptr hits and you can test it. Do I want Aimed Shot to be a long cast? Nope. But there’s several ways that they’ve given us in the new talent tree for 11.1 to make AS casts shorter or instant/free, the damage it does duplicated or spread. Just an initial look at the talent trees makes me think that marksmanship is not going to be hurting for dps or utility as its utility is buffed.
That utility you currently enjoy can fail to cast because your pet wandered too far away and despawned, or is dead, or CCed, instead it just works on demand for 11.1.
Not having the companion for companionship or tanking a mob is a valid concern, but your rotation no longer will need to include healing the pet, resurrecting the pet, summoning and dismissing pets to get the utility you’re after. You just pick the utility you want in the talent tree and you have it until you change talents because you opted not to have it.
Choosing to not have the eagle wont be an option. If you choose to cast Intimidation or Bloodlust or another utility that triggers a less than invasive brief eagle animation you might see it. Otherwise it may just appear that you the hunter, have and used your utility.

I need to play ptr but reading the talents it sounds like we will never want to cast an aimed shot unless we have it powered up with a short or instant cast time… Which to me sounds engaging, but I need to try it before I know for sure.
IMO it’s substantially better and fits the playstyle of an actual marksman. But I’m someone who has run without a pet for years even in solo content. I feel like the eagle adds flavor. I’m not even sure if we’ll see the eagle or if it’s just a way to explain the abilities we have now.
They’ve said they want us to be able to customize it as well. I’m really looking forward to the change and finally being able to use all the utility pets bring without having to summon one.
I’m not against people having pets as MM, I just don’t want to give up that utility just because I choose to run without one.
But as always, actually playing it on PTR will be the real test… how does it actually feel, because how it looks on paper and how it feels can be two very different things.

My issue with Aimed Shot being designed that way is literally 90%+ of MM Hunters for years have said “Remove the charges, remove the cooldown, let us move while casting it. Give us 2 of these 3 dear lord please”
And they just absolutely refuse to actually listen to feedback on that with Aimed Shot. Instead choosing to design the spec around “Here’s your core damaging ability your whole spec is built on and you will literally lose damage if you cast it when it isn’t empowered”

Exactly which is why I want to test before crying the sky is falling.

This sub forum is for a test realm. This will be tested for a while. If it doesn’t work out, they deal with it, hopefully.
Yeah, I’ve heard the “it’s only PTR” a lot over the years as a defense for bad decision making. It’s tiresome and out of touch.
