Flying should have never been added to the game. It made the game world smaller and it sped up the experience.
I believe this, in turn, sped up the expansion releases. Had we never had flying, we may still be in the Legion expansion.
Regardless, dont get me wrong, I love my flying ability and the mounts associated with it. When flying came out in TBC, I thought it was better than sliced bread and it was.
But I noticed I started finishing the expansions faster and everything was moving quicker.
I sincerely believe that if flying was done away with (which wont happen and probably wouldnt want to happen since I am spoiled now) the expansions would feel bigger and it would take more time to immerse and enjoy said expansions.
However, I know fellow vanilla vets such as myself, dont have the time nowadays like we did when we started in 2004. Hence why we prefer the flying and the myriad of QoL changes to the game since it helps with our time management.
But, in my opinion, I believe flying, in retrospect, was a bad design choice even if I actually like it.
Anyways, thats my take on it.

I pay to play, not to slow walk around a huge map I’ve seen a 100 times.
Blizzard needs to respect player time, not spend it like quarters at a slot machine.
If you want to “take it all in” then dismount and have at it.
Advocating for removing something as popular as flying is as a good a troll as it gets these days.

What I’ll say is that there is a bit of a schism that happened post WoTLK and led to game as it is now.
There is a joy in chilling out and enjoying the game for what it is at the core. I do it in Cata and it’s been a slow haul.
Flying is just an aspect of it.

The MASSES of paying customers love flight…clearly…so THAT is why it remained in the game even though Ion wanted it gone.

Flying didn’t ruin the game. Streamers and Esport competitions did that part. Now every common joe that’s only done LFR thinks they can get into stuff and go go go go go go then leave when they die. “but people didn’t die in the stream, so this group must be baddies”

I don’t think flying is to blame for the faster delivery of content. I think it’s mostly players just consume the content faster, especially since esports and streaming started taking off. I guess you could argue that flying helps players consume that content faster, but I think it would’ve happened regardless of whether it had been added or not.

I actually agree with you. I wouldn’t want it taken away now but it definitely made the world smaller and less interactive with other players. Flying place to place is nice but I miss actually seeing other players for more than 5 seconds like it is now. Flying to quest markers is pretty bland too. Might as well set up teleports that zap you from the quest giver directly to the objective and back.
But yes, it’s too late now. I couldn’t go back even if they tried to force it. That one dude arguing with you doesn’t seem to get what you’re saying.

I think you knew going in that this is a bait topic and WOULD get negative reactions…because youve been here 1000 times and seen it happen before Id bet.
This forum is for our discussion and opinions…sure…but Id think also…by now…youd just accept that youre gonna get those reactions and then NOT make a big deal of it when you do…since again…you clearly knew how this would go given the topic.
Every time one of you anti flight sorts post this in here you pretend that we HAVENT seen it ALL before…all the reasons you claim the game is worse now because of flight lol
after 1000 times of the same lame reasons, yeah…it gets kinda old hearing it again
