Feeling that way is one thing, but the game is still not extremely playable with just ground mounts at a fast pace, prior to DR which brought correspondingly larger zones, but up through SL, not ever having flight wouldn’t actually stop people from “finishing” the expansion almost as fast as with flying.
its ONE of many reasons Im HERE instead of at ESO giving them my money…
And thats youre opinion and I respect it.
Yeah… Ive read the same post 1257 times. OP didnt bring anything new to the “discussion” so I would give the thumbs down if it was still around.
I disagree, it is easy to blame flying but everything seeming to go faster happened because the game was no longer new. Meaning people were more experienced with the game and therefore more efficient with how they interact with the game. Combine this with guides and beta access that further push for perfect efficiency the patches and xpacs just zoom by.
It feels like a copout to blame the feeling on moving faster on a mode of transportation when players actively seek out more impactful ways to push gameplay into being faster.
And you are entitled to that.
Thing is, slower isn’t always better. Making it take longer to get from A to B doesnt mean its more fun. I have, from time to time, played ESO which has no flight. It has locations that allow you to travel instantly from one point to another and there are other fast travel means but if those arent availabke, for me being forced to ride a horse across a very large game map is tedious. And I’ve seen the old ‘immersion’ term tossed around, as if trotting along and avoiding trees and the occasional bear makes the game more exciting. It just makes it slower imo.
Flight is a joy and not having it in WoW would have taken a great deal of the fun from the game.
Not the hottest of takes by any stretch. It’s been had before.
Several of the Vanilla-era devs who are so absurdly idolized around here tried to ditch flight in WoD and it caused probably the biggest player revolt we’ve seen.
Then ignore the post? Its really quite simple. You arent forced to reply. You know that right? Besides, its an opinion of mine that I wanted to share. If you cant respect that then dont respond?
Honestly I think the danger being taken out of the outside world content is really what sped up our experience. Back then, even in wrath at max level in good gear I had to be a little careful about what I was landing near. Lol
Cataclysm was the first time they let us fly while we were leveling, and those five new zones were so ridiculously large, I felt like leveling somehow took longer than the 71-80 journey when Wrath launched and we couldn’t fly.
Maybe they don’t waste their life away on the forums making sure they don’t accidently recover an old topic that’s gonna trigger some forum dweller. Sometimes people just have thoughts and want to throw it out there to see what others think without having to research to see if his exact thought has been talked about before. I don’t get why you don’t skip on by instead of being a child.
I prefer flying to ground movement. When I’m trying to quest, herb, mine, fish, etc, not having to deal with the landscape and the mobs makes it a better experience. Flying fits within the game world, and the fact that it saves me time means I can do more in-game than I could with a ground mount or walking everywhere.
What I will say is, you don’t have to use flying mounts if you’d rather slow down or just don’t like flying. Flying isn’t required to complete any content, so for the folks that feel like you regarding the pace, you have the option to use ground mounts or just hoof it yourself.
Note: None of this reply was intended to be snide or rude, just to be a part of the discussion.
And I agree with your statement acutally. I enjoy the flying. I just believe it made the game world smaller and sped things up basically.
But yes, many QoL changes came because of flying and I love my flying mounts as well so, I wouldnt want to give them up.
I think it’s what the player makes of it.
You more or less have two types of players with some inbetween.
Player a - doesn’t care about the story, their only goal is to get max level and start the never ending gear farm.
Player b - takes their time enjoying the scenery and could care less how about the end game.
The beauty of wow is it lets you choose which way you would like to play.
If you think flying should be removed there is always the option to not use it.
If you were so bothered by my post, I don’t get why you didn’t skip on by. The OP doesnt need you coming to their rescue. They can respond to my take that they didnt bring anything new that hasnt been said 1000 times. Take care
we could all ignore it…as you could have not posted a bait topic KNOWING youd get the reactions you did and then pretending to be surprised…lol
YOU titled YOUR thread this, son…
This may get alot of hate but
…so dont fake victimhood now that you got what you knew you would
Buh bye…
Do not worry about the hate, ppl can agree or disagree but if they hate a opinion they must have some serious problem going on.
And I agree with you.
No flying servers would be amazing IMO.
They have all kind of servers going on, if they make one for no flyers (I mean just the regular fly masters from point to point), I THINK, they would be surprise of how much ppl would join.
bait thread muted.
