Let me start by saying that the new portal networks in SW/Org are very convenient. However, two of them baffle me. The Pandaria portals lead to the Jade Forest and the Legion portal leads to Aszuna. Can someone explain why they don’t lead to The Vale of Eternal Blossoms and Broken Isles Dalaran, respectively? Why transport so far from the main hubs? Is it just to get people to fly out and explore?
Pretty much. Part of the whole thing when they introduced the portal rooms was to consolidate the portals in one spot but the other part was to make people travel more instead of just porting everywhere.
Here’s the official explanation behind their entire revamp, if you’re curious.
The Jade Forest portal existed since day 1 of MoP. If you were leveling and needed to go back to SW for some reason, that portal was the only way to continue your progress.
In regards to the Legion portal, my guess is they felt having two portals that go to Dalaran would be confusing.
The cata ports should all be in there
Ports to ALL new areas should be in there
The pet dude with those 5+ portals should be in there
There should be a hearth in there
BLIZ FAIL
Not to mention we already have a Dalaran Hearthstone…having a portal there wouldve just been redundant.
