I’ve recently had a friend mentioning to me and showing me so many picture snippets that he’s been rejected by a mythic dunguneering guild. Care to take a guess what the excuse was?
The excuse
He’s been rejected because he was rolling a feral druid. I would suspect because of the lack of DPS.
People. This is a game. A freakin’ game. Not some sort of company where you need to submit an application for employment. There are so many classes that can easily carry through a mythic dungeon. If you find me playing a “weak class”, it is most likely I want to try something different and have fun.
I honestly can’t believe I’m typing this. I know most of you won’t give a ****. But for the good of future guild owners, please consider that actual humans want to try a different approach.

Why would I get angry at a friend who’s been treating me with respect?

Okay. Well, I’m done here. I get posts like this.
GG general discussion.

Sorry your friend encountered this. The community is hot garbage in this game. It’s no wonder it’s bleeding players.

And it’s wonder why you have to rely on randoms to do mythics with…

That stinks, sometimes people just want to play y’all. It’s not like the guild is full and they can’t accept more members. Maybe those people will regret it when the wheel turns again and feral becomes powerful in keys.

To be fair, this is a big reason why people don’t do group content. I’m not suggesting that it change. I don’t care because I don’t do group content anyway and nothing would make me, but, being a soloer, I have met many other soloers who would group if out-of-meta builds and experimental builds/passion builds were more tolerated and respected.
In the end, most people aren’t going to defer to the group, so your group endeavors can never include most people unless your invitation says “Come as you are.”

Well, I used to be of the same mindset OP when I started but it’s an MMO, and said person is trying to get into a guild. They can reject for w/e reason, good or bad [ferals are pretty decent.]
Ultimately they are better of just finding something else… that guild wouldn’t of been fun for said applicant anyway if that’s how they acted.
Look at it as school… not getting picked because you weren’t this or that or whatever.
Just gotta accept that there are jerks and move on to another group of people or w/e…

start your own grps, find like minded people that enjoy the fun of running keys, vs tryhards that just want to say they are better, thats what i did, learn as a grp, dont expect perfection, discuss the keys in a friendly way after each one, be it good or bad, tell people what they did right and where they can improve, and grow together.
that’s how i had fun pushing keys all last xpac, definitely not in pugs or sudo-elitest guilds/community’s

I feel ya but at the end of the day you cant convince people to play or risk their time with you.
Major reason why i just create my own groups, got KSM and rival at least.

The concept that people are free to group up and ask other people whatever they want to build their group, and so are any other person, should be a praised one given the ethos of most forum posters.
I dont see why you are entitled to freedoms and other people should be obliged to not be free to choose with whom they play with freely, however “disgusting” one might regard it.

I have to play devil’s advocate on this. If you’re going to pursue current content end-game raiding and M+ at more competitive levels, then you have to accept that it’s an elite level where you can and will be scrutinized to ensure you’re exactly what is wanted/needed. You don’t get to decide yourself if you are what’s wanted and needed, or if you’re enough, or if you’ll do, or if you’ll suffice. If you want to do true end game level stuff, then you must submit to your worth and value being wholly determined by those other than yourself. That’s how it works.
The *RIGHT* attitude for end game raiding/M+ ~
- I will submit to the judgment and scrutiny of the group and will strive to be what I am needed to be. I will be a cohesive member of the team, and together we will work towards common goals and enjoy success as a team.
The *WRONG* attitude for end game raiding/M+ ~
- It’s about me. I want to make all of my own choices for what class and spec I wish to play, my talent choices, etc. I shouldn’t have to change to be accepted. I know my worth!
All of the above is part of the reason why I personally have emphatically zero interest in current content raiding and M+. I like doing my own thing. I like playing whatever class and spec I want, and doing whatever I want, whenever I want. I couldn’t care less about all the stress and aggravation and cutthroat competitiveness of current end-game content.
But if I were to change my mind and decide that I do want to be a part of end game and excel at the higher levels, I know and accept how things work.
End game is brutal. Don’t take it personally. It’s not about you, and that’s the point.

Their group, their rules. You have absolutely no say on why your “friend” derserved to be accepted, no matter what crappy reasoning they come up with.

I got kicked from a Timewalking because I was not meta. She berated me about it. Well I’m sorry but if you can’t heal a 213 tank in a Timewalking, you might be the problem. Sure enough we died 10 seconds into the first boss fight. “Spell Reflection is a thing”. There were no spells. Kicked.

This thread has convinced me that DPS meters should be banned from the game
Way too many people have forgotten the point of this game is that it’s an RPG, picking your favorite race/class combo, picking whatever spec you like the most for whatever reason, and having fun with other people you are supposed to be friendly or gasp friends with.
The late 90s/early 00s spreadsheet mentality that the community has perpetuated and Ion has encouraged has gone to an extreme, self destructive form
This is insane.
OP, at the end of the day, that guild seemed like trash people. Hope you find a chill guild.

Unfortunately you’re talking about mythic guilds. Even heroic is considered high level content, but mythic is highest of the high. I was a mythic raider for a long time, but its too much effort for me. Not all guilds will get the mythic goal they set out for. It is difficult, not impossible, but hard, many nights were spent wiping 100x times with no progress in sight. If a class isn’t doing well, it won’t be taken. Sometimes, it just isn’t possible to do it with/without certain classes, Disc/Hpal and Warlock come to mind. The content just straight up wasn’t made so every comp can do it (until after nerfs).
Content gets nerfed as a patch progress though, which is why toward the end of the patch more guilds have cleared mythic or have laxxed the class requirements to do so. Your feral druid friend will find more success then but we aren’t even halfway through.
