Difference in older expacs (less vanilla more of wrath-beginning of mop) obtaining bis was feasible. Now you never will and that sucks. There’s always more power to be had as long as you log in everyday and pull those slot machine handles and dont forget to grind up your never ending AP!
It’s all hand in hand. I don’t recall a game where skills/talents completely trumped gear. Gear is always important and sought after, and typically the carrot that leads you out on an adventure.
WoW’s current iteration seems designed to keep you chasing gear even once you get the actual piece you want. Might get lucky and get a forged piece. Might get a socket! The game has been around long enough with the same old formula that they’ve run out of ideas to keep players playing. This is their solution and it falls pretty flat with me.
Seems like the actual argument is that what drops doesn’t seem to be all that random. It’s pretty common to get the same pieces over and over and over. Maybe they need to expand loot tables if they insist on this much RNG loot. Or give people access to targeted loot outside of raids/M+.
I did the Darkshore quest on 4 toons today. All 4 got 385s naturally, and only ONE got an upgrade. Even that upgrade was the worst possible stats for him. If my warlock and DH could trade cloaks, both would have gotten an upgrade, but naturally we can’t have that.
Yup… FF14 is the new standard. The gearing in that game is EXACTLY what it should be. In fact, when I switch over from FF14 to this game, it feels old. Dont get me wrong, WOW is like an old friend to me but its just… Old. They didn’t keep up with things. They rested on their status and it is killing them now.
Oh but I do… My Guild is gone… My friends guilds are gone… In game friends are gone… Playing arenas and BGs I keep seeing the same names over and over again which I never did before… If it walks like a duck…
