I have also said the exact same thing about anime.

I find the older anime from the 80’s and 90’s look way better than modern anime.

the reason being is that it was cel animation, and it was all hand drawn. The hand drawn cel animation has many imperfections in it, which gives it a grittier and rough around the edges look. to me it gives the look of the show more depth and character and charm

Modern anime that is created digitally has no imperfections, and looks way to smooth. It is technologically “better” but it looks lifeless and boring to me.

kuroko no basket is technologically better and more flashy. Slam Dunk has much more depth and emotion

By and large they look better now. They made nelfs look worse, and they failed to change the human male “I have diarrhea” running animation.
