Activision Blizzard, Inc. is an American video game holding company based in Santa Monica, California.** The company was founded in July 2008 through the merger of Activision, Inc. (the publicly traded parent company of Activision Publishing) and Vivendi Games.
- A holding company is a type of financial organization that owns a controlling interest in other companies, which are called subsidiaries.
- The parent corporation can control the subsidiary’s policies and oversee management decisions but doesn’t run day-to-day operations.
- Holding companies are protected from losses accrued by subsidiaries—so if a subsidiary goes bankrupt, its creditors can’t go after the holding company.
Activision is sheltered from Blizzard. While they want the game to make money, their only concern is the financial profit it makes no matter how good or bad the game is.
If the game starts losing money to the point it makes 0 profit or even goes bankrupt Activison is protected.
Used to companies had to have assets worth something to give stock and shares value. Investors would be paid dividends on profits, and if the company folded the courts could order all assets sold and the money that was left would be given back to the investors.
Now the stock market is manipulated by fake profits, and printed money with nothing to back it up. This was set up so wealthy elites could control the value of something at will.
simply by raising the value of the company based upon false information that is told to the public. Its why now they say information is the most valuable asset of our time. Because you can value information based upon what ever you deem it to be. Its what Facebook, google, yahoo and so on have done. There is nothing tangible other than your own personal information.
While I salute the people who created blizzard. They lived their dreams, put their money where their mouth was like all of us should do. They too did succumb to the desire to be mega rich. So they sold their dream to corporate greed, but at the same time they now get to live their dreams without financial worry.
