This is the least fun M+ in a long time

I am by no means an amazing player just a filthy casual that likes to play games. Came back to WoW for DF and its been pretty good but the M+ affixes this week are just terrible like, not even a fun terrible just atrociously bad. I am just trying to work my way up to having every dungeon timed on a +10 but these affixes are making me just not want to play cause its not fun, it is just a tedious nightmare of random one shots and ridiculous amounts of damage going out thats far beyond what the keys I am trying to do should be doing.

If you can’t do the keys you are trying then they are just beyond your skill level. So you should practice or get gear if you want to go higher.

If you don’t want to do that then just stay at your skill level and stop complaining that there is difficult content in the game

Random one shots is not difficult content it’s bad design/tuning

So if I walk into molten core at level one and get one shot by some mob that’s just bad game design. Level ones definitely should be able to do molten core.

Nothing one shots you that can’t be dodged, interrupted or stunned. With the exception of a possible raging mob that can still be soothed either way

100% agree. Its overtuned to all hell and almost 50% of the bosses punish ranged and non mobile healers way too much. Thundering is also terrible.

I don’t think “fun” and “easy” are the same thing. Things can be challenging and fun, they can be easy and un-fun.

A lot of the top M+ runners have stated their opinion of what makes M+ fun and not-so-fun. Design-wise, it’s almost like Blizz doubled down on what they said wasn’t fun.

I get that it’s not one-size-fits-all, but it’s also not only a case of “git gud.”

what a great comment, wise marie killed 2 of my keys this week, a 12 and a 11 because her stupid cast is bugged and one shotted us even if all the party players were avoiding it, yeah skill issue

They aren’t really random… but there sure are a lot of them this expansion and I would definitely agree that there’s an over-reliance on them that does feel like bad design. Having a few danger mechanics is fine, but it feels like nearly every boss mechanic is designed to 1-shot you if you mess up. Which is not only frustrating, it’s extremely wearing. Any single mistake results in a death, which is just not fun. It wasn’t fun in Shadowlands and it certainly isn’t now.

There are other ways to punish mistakes besides death. Having healer mana be an actual resource means you can punish mistakes with time by having the healer required to drink. You can also make players unable to attack for a while if they fail a mechanic, or port them to another area where they have to fight their way out. These are things I thought of just writing this thread, I’m sure there are many more.

Things that cost you time on your key but still let you actually play the game, not sit there and watch your team do the fight without you, or wipe and run back. It feels like there’s a lack of creativity here…

That’s just your opinion. For many people, a boss having no mechanics is not fun. And if the boss mechanics do not 1 shot DPS who fail them, then those boss mechanics might as well not exist.

That’s not really true though. One example I can think up immediately off the cuff is that if failing a certain mechanic didn’t result in death, but rather significantly extended added more time to your run (and putting it at risk of failing), that’s certainly a consequence that remains very significant. I’m sure I can think up others if I spent more than 0.2 seconds thinking about it.

Random 1 shots are not designed to happen they’re designed to be stopped (even though the random 1 shots were very obvious last week with fort raging) so “random 1 shots” this week is: player skill issue and/or extremely low gear

The 4th Affix is pretty awful. The Affixes in general are fine.

What is NOT fine are the massive amounts of AoE damage that some of these bosses have, then having to absorb orbs/dodge fire/dodge more aoe. I can think of 3 bosses that are severely Overtuned with AoE dmg. It’s become a healers worst nightmare this season unless they fix the dmg output pronto.

healers actually want to heal, you know. The damage output is fine, it’s fun.

Bug fixes are not the same as tuning. I believe all bugs should be fixed. I don’t think the dungeons ned to be made easier.

I’m not sure how you got that I don’t think bugs should be fixed from what I said. That is a truly “special” ability

I remember a lot of people complained that ksm was too easy in SL. People also asked for more rewards from higher than 15 content, and they’ve sort of solved both with current scaling. Idk I don’t mind the challenge, especially when I remember I’m barely 390 with no tier and for the pugs I can get invites to the rest are usually worse off
