Hard agree. I’ve been an avid M+ player since Legion (usually 3200-3500 range before squish) and I just can’t get myself motivated to even do single 10 key right now. Usually, I’d be playing alts and just slamming keys because they’re fun. But right now, with the general direction they’ve taken the game, it’s just genuinely unfun and I just can’t get myself interested to login and play keys.
… my entire friends list and guild have already reached this point.
The game has taken a really bad turn.

The thing is, I don’t think it has anything to do with the devs, but that the WoW forma is just getting stale for a lot of people.
I really do like the devls, but it is not enough to keep me playing.
I don’t mean to be contradictory, but that really is the case. And almost none of those people are the people here. We are obviously super nerds, but a vast majority of people aren’t personally doing the math themselves and deciding to pick the spec that gives them the maximum DPS. They are going on the website that gives them malware because they know that website did all the thinking for them.
That choice was still more meaningful than Hero Talents. I don’t mean that your hero spec doesn’t make a difference. Maybe you’re a hunter and now you suddenly are interested in butchery builds. But those individual talent choices, are fuggin meaningless.
People made fun of meaningful choices and this is what we got.
“Loud and clear” -Blizzard probably.

That’s the entire point, covenants went against how the general playerbase plays the game. How they come to the conclusion that one was the best, either through sims or following a guide doesn’t matter, the point is the meaningful choice rhetoric was nonsense since the vast majority of the playerbase is only going to pick the strongest one lol.

It’s ok to log off the game.
There’s no obligation.
There’s sooo many amazing games out right now.
Eat up.

The fact that people in here are defending covenants is insane.
Yea some people actually still want WoW to be an RPG.
Shocking I know.

So by that logic, simply remove the choice and bake it in.
Don’t condescend and gaslight me and say I have a choice when it’s not a choice at all.
If you have no choice, then how were covenants a meaningful choice lol?
I started playing in Legion. I loved the Warcraft games, and got hooked on WoW because it kept that feel. Shadowlands really started feeling like another game, and Dragon Flight, and this expansion, are totally different feeling games.
I feel like my character is now in some type of Disney woke world, and the traces of Warcraft have been steadily removed.
If you ever played Diablo 3, playing WoW now is like going into Whimsydale or Whimsyshire.

Yeah I’m bored too.
Character progression grinded to a halt weeks ago. Clearing +4s hasn’t been successful yet on my Disc and I haven’t even attempted keys on my Rogue because I’ve been trying to do them on my Disc.
All these keys I’ve attempted, the DPS is doing like 400k overall. I actually thought my damage meter was bugged out because the damage was so low. I had a tank bail out of Grim Batol randomly and was like “yeah we’re not killing the next boss” then just left. Then I looked at damage.
People joining these keys have no idea what they’re doing. We won’t even talk about the interrupt meter.
Last night I tried one. People doing 400k overall and then the Warriors kept screaming at me to dispel the affix. I was just like why? We weren’t dying, nothing was happening and they just kept screaming, so I just left.
From how I understand it, some people want the game to be worse.
That said, there is a problem with the limited content for end game being provided.
At least it seems limited. I still haven’t completed the spider area yet. Az kahet or w/e it’s called.
I also don’t understand when people say that the content has to be “meaningful”.
It’s content. Make it interesting so people want to do it again. Make it fun.
Suffusion Camps were fun. Feasts were fun. Yeah, you do them a hundred times or so it can get old but it was fun and if you take a break and come back, it’s still pretty fun.
Anyway, just my 2 cents for what that’s worth. Have fun.
Covenants gave you two active abilities for your bar that made a difference in your playstyle. Wether it was defensive or mobility or damage or whatever.
Hero specs are almost all passives. All the guides says “this won’t change your playstyle at all” and the tooltip says “don’t sweat it bro. you’ll get all these at 80”
The choices don’t matter so why the heck do I make the choice? The spec, sure. But the individual talents? That’s dumb. And really, I’d prefer if the hero spec (like covenants) had two active abilities and all the hero spec talents affected those. That’s what im getting at. I don’t want a choice between potato chips 1 and potato chips 2 if I know I’m gonna eat all 15 potato chips, and I don’t really feel excited about choosing the passives that net the most damage based on the current tuning.
The hero trees suck anyway. Some of them are so under tuned that they keep having to buff them over and over and over. They went live like that.

Yeah. At least if they had abilities attached to them I could justify playing with spec A that gives me death chakrams and a shield, or spec b which gives me stronger AoE and a Mobility ability.

I said it’s me in my original post. I said it’s not a knock on the xpac.
Yeah I know, I’m just saying, it’s normal after this many years that you don’t enjoy something as much.

I think the game is objectively boring, raiding and M+ anyway.
M+ can be fun if it’s all your friends.
Raiding goes from fun to not fun the moment you get stuck on a boss. Also if you get bad luck, aka, no loot, you’re having double the unfun.
Delves are alright. PVP is alright. It’s all just mediocre, boring, safe.

That’s how it was in classic.
It’s how most RPGs do it.
