Public Notice: DO NOT SKIP CAMPAIGN ON LOW GEARED ALTS

Straight up this is nearly your only viable gear source this patch since there are no account wide gear tokens nor account wide upgrade currency and if you skip campaign on a low geared alt, it is very difficult to get decent gear this patch from rares / zone events.

I want to spend my time playing my characters doing the content that I actually want to, not the content I have to in order to inflate a patch specific iLevel that gets completely invalidated next patch.

That’s what this is about… negating a 20-60 hour time investment per character in order to then play the content you actually want to… especially when you have 10+ alts.

So what are you supposed to do if you have 8 level 70s and most of them are freshly dinged 70? Like sub ilevel 360? Am I missing something? Is there some obviously easily obtainable 390+ ilevel gear you can get on your 430 iLevel main that you can mail to your alts? No. Not now that FR is a ghost town and the rares are still group intended content.

Let’s look at PvP gear: It takes about 6 hours to get a full PvP gear set if you win the majority of your games and queue as a healer. It takes more than 500 honor per piece just to upgrade one peice of pvp gear to 372 pve ilevel so you can even queue random heroics. That’s another entire piece of gear per slot. That’s two entire PvP gear sets worth of honor PER character just to do random heroics which will not even get you an ilevel over 390.

It literally takes over a week of dungeon spamming per character to get over 372 (since you’re lucky if you get 1 piece of useful gear every 2 complete dungeon runs) to even do heroics so you can get this 1 piece of 411 from the weekly.

Or buy crafted 408 gear which still would take weeks of farming whelpling crests and work orders per character…

Or weeks farming rares for explorer gear and then upgrading it with flightstones.

Or doing the entire campaign on every single alt and again, spending days per character farming flightstones to upgrade it all just to get to 400 ilevel which is still too low of an ilevel to do anything in the game anyways?

Rep isn’t account wide so you cannot even purchase your rep unlocked gear.

Like what.

This xpac was supposed to be alt friendly.

  1. Honor PvP gear should be good enough for you to get into entry level mythic+0
  2. Boas should be at least heroic dungeon ilevel on their own… if you’ve spent the several hundreds of thousand of gold to have them in the first place at level 70.
  3. Faction rep should be accountwide so you can at least start with a few higher ilevel pieces at freshly dinged 70.
  4. Explorer gear should be accountbound and should drop way more frequently.
  5. All gear upgrade currencies should be accountwide. How many upgrade currencies are there at the moment now? 15 different ones? What is this mess?
  6. FR rares should be easily soloable and the gear token system should be extended to all new zones and patches

Dragonflight is not respectful of player time at all. Imagine if you have a job or obligations outside of fulltime playing WoW. Literally my alts were more caught up during BFA than current… and that’s really saying something.

Do the new area and WQs and you’ll get the gear and the currency to upgrade said gear up to 398 (pretty sure 398 anyway) for that level of gear.

I have 8 alts all 385 just from FR tokens found with this character. Three of them now have a few pieces of 400+ just from saying hi to Fyrakk. And none of them have even poked a head in the cavern yet.

Did the FR rares tokens get dropped to Explorer 1/8 level or something?

My alts are all decked out in 385 gear from FR. The few times I joined either a rare farm group for Zskera keys or just a War Creche group, I’d fill my bags with every conceivable 385 gear token and mail it off to my alts. It didn’t take weeks…more like one weekend.

So your suggestion is to farm rares in FR? Mate I did hours of FR (got the salamander mount and everything) and got 3 tokens and 2 of the 3 were gear types I can’t even use on my alts.

Go check out the Fyrakk attack thing. You can get some 380- 400+ ilvl gear there. Its best if there’s a group of players doing it, they hit rather hard when you don’t have any 400+ gear.

You can have a full 398 set in less than 8 hours, by farming rares and doing whatever in the new zone. Just play 2-3 hours and you have it in a couple of days.

This is the most alt friendly expansion EVER.

Unless your idea of “alt friendly” means you get full BiS raid gear mailed to you when you hit max level?

Dragonflight to me is 20x nicer to alts than the last xpac. I feel like you just don’t know what you’re doing, at all. I understand that though because blizz always feels they need to implement 30x different systems, then by the time a new patch comes out those systems are done and we have new systems.

The barrier of entry is higher than it’s ever been.

Hmmm not 100 % sure.
I just went last night and got some nice upgrades that can be further upgraded. Yay!
I see you have some as well. If you intend to gear out your alts in a day or two, I don’t think that this alone will get you there, but It helps.

This just isn’t accessible at all for any of alts or freshly boosted / leveled characters. I’m not going to do 20 hour binges per character just to be able to even think about playing it. You know?

Especially with how each patch has been drastically reworking specs

I’m playing on an ALT rn and it’s really not that bad. I’m 361 and I am about to do my first double digit key. Probably a bad idea but might as well see where it takes me.

And if you’re curious on how I ended up with a 10 I got it through building my own key.

Forbidden Reach was Alt Friedly.

The new gear system isn’t at all. The grind for gear is now much higher.

No point in gearing alts when so much is character bound on top of a grind.

I’m just saying the gearing process isn’t that bad. At least for me. I’ve just been running keys despite my ilvl being low bc i don’t really care. I’ve been doing pretty well in 2s and whatnot That and I like seeing how far I get.,

Heroics are dropping upgradeable 389 gear.
Run them.
