That’s kinda the problem with spy it provides so much an advatnage that if you don’t use it you’re gimping your self.
If addons like spy that provide features that are not default to the game were simply not possible then game play would be a lot more interesting because the skill of the individual would shine a lot more brightly.
Paying attention to the surroundings and watching for incoming players is part of that… When you have an addon effectively eliminating that component of PVP you’re in a way proving you’re a crap player if you “NEED” that feature.
Great and even good players do not need these things, but if great and good players are using these things then it becomes required.
Further these kind of features widen the gap between those who know about them and those who dont.
If you truly NEED an addon to play vs those who don’t then you’re bad; simple as that.
That’s the point most people are making here, addons while nice should not be something required to play a video game.
Providing information in a more handy way, that’s fine. EXAMPLES of what I am actually talking about are moving the buff / debuff location into a more visible spot…
Providing estimated cast bars (not actual) (just like the present classic addons do)
Providing a UI with Arena frames is massive and NOT a component of the default UI in an way…
Some idiot is about to post “read the combat log” .
If you are that focused on your combat log that you’re reading all that data… You will be utterly destroyed.
“read the combat log” is the worst most pathetic argument ever.
If the combat log is providing information about players you’re not even in combat with… This is a problem that Blizzard ought to address.
Should we be able to see information that the default UI does not present?
Simply the answer is HELL NO.
