Change my mind.
I don’t use it
Harder …Maybe …Better is subjective
Yes which is why I dont use it even in retail. Play other mmos that dont have addons. FFXIV Savage raids were the best part of the game. No addons giving you directions, learn or die.
Initially yes, but due to the nature of repetition no. The game did exist prior to DBM, and it only lengthened the learning curve, it didn’t really make it “harder”.
If anything randomizing the encounters and boss abilities would be a better long term solution.
I’ve always said that add-on’s have ruined a entire generation, now two generations of raiders. When you need to rely on a add-on something if you just watch and listen could do yourself. Problem is now it’s come down to if you don’t use them you not allowed to do certain content.
It just makes it so someone is the mechanic call out guy in voice comms.
Why do you need this? I’ve never used any addons in any expansion, but no one has ever asked me about that and no one cares if I come on any dungeons or raids. They’re like “Oh cool, you’re a healer, and you aren’t terrible.”
Or recently: “A non-frost mage… huh? Welcome aboard.”
With or without DBM the content right now is faceroll. It might make it 100x better for you knowing noone is using DBM but its false that it would make it 10x harder. I do not use DBM in Classic and its faceroll content for the time being.
DBM in its current state actually allows you to exploit bosses to your advantage because you can see cast bars that you’re not supposed to be able to see. Think of Chromaggus and how people make you hide in advance from the fire breath because of the random bronze stun. You couldn’t predict that without DBM. Knowing when melees should get out of melee on Ragnaros makes the fight not only easier, but shorter because it’s easier to burst Ragnaros down before the Sons of Flame spawn.
I hate people saying that. Obviously it is impossible to change anyone’s mind. What does it even mean?
???
It’s very possible to argue your point and change a reasonable persons mind with logic.
Yeah… it’s fun being a melee hunter on Nefarian because he could break your ranged weapon at any time and you can’t predict it without a timer.
<___<
It took blizzard a very, very long time to make encounters that gave a useful amount of warning about the moves they were doing/about to do that you had to react to in order to not die/wipe the raid. I can’t say going back to next to no info would be a good thing in any way.
Presently the only things that are super touchy in BWL are things like Wing Buffet which the game calls out for you in emote form… so no.
FF is such an incredibly simple game it’s hardly a good comparison
You have literally zero idea what you’re talking about. Chromag breathes every 30 seconds and your tank calls out when he gets punted on Rag. No DBM needed.
Thanks for playing
Even without DBM, Dungeons and some raids are still a joke. Remember that we used to suck back in day? unfortunately thats no longer the case in Classic, pretty much everyone knows the mechanics now.
The problem with wow, and especially early wow, is bosses give very poor if any telegraphs.
To compare- FFXIV has extremely mechanic heavy fights, but doesn’t even allow add ons, yet because moves are well telegraphed, it’s perfectly fine. Dark Souls as well- it’s considered hard, but fair, because bosses and enemies give clear tells before they do a particularly dangerous move.
WoW doesn’t do that very well, and is far worse for it in the vanilla to cata phase especially.
The cast time on, say, Chrommagus breaths is extremely short, not enough time for a dps to move to cover and definitely not enough to expect an entire raid to be able to read it and move to cover in basically a second. This isn’t an FPS expecting twitch reflexes, it’s an RPG that is more strategic in nature.
This is basically it- there’s a difference between being able to react to something, which good games that have telegraphs let you do- and just randomly being dead because the game does a poor job of indicating when a death move is going to happen.
If you need to know ahead of time when something is going to happen in order to survive it- well, that’s just it, you need to know ahead of time it’s going to happen or you won’t survive it.
I don’t know how else to say this, short of breaking out the water colors and sock puppets.
He. Breathes. Every. 30. Seconds.
Literally couldnt be more predictable.
Every. 30. Seconds.
- Seconds.
Not random, or hard to predict. Why?
Because. It. Happens. Every. 30. Seconds
DBM isnt using voodoo or magic or hacks in order to know when the breathes are coming. You wanna know how DBM knows?
Say it with me now children…
BECAUSE IT HAPPENS EVERY 30 SECONDS.
Run AWAY LITTLE GIRL!.. Run away heh heh heh…
