This game seems more like a mobile gacha game each update

I’m personally a little confused with the new conduit change system. Which the COVENANT change system in and of itself is ridiculous enough to me. Is this better than before? Fine.

But let me just thank the person that slapped me across the face for not simply punching me in the face. Afterall, that is better than a punch to the face right?

(Point: Both are ridiculous.)

Covenant change: 1 covenant change per week.
Charge system: Gain 1 charge per day to change conduits up to a maximum cap of 10 charges.

How long do the devs mean to perpetuate this farce? How much longer must I endure these bumbling systems.

This game? It’s sounding like one of those mobile “gotcha” (chaching cash noise) game lockouts at this point. That’s my “hot take” as a newer player that’s spent time wrapping my head around this system ontop of system ontop of system absolute debauchery.

This also doesn’t address concerns like what Cayna brought up. https://twitter.com/CaynaWoW/status/1311081312711737345

I put conduits in my soulbind
1 tree for raid ele
1 tree for M+ ele
1 tree for PvP ele

Then i swap spec to enh cause I find it also fun
Or resto to help heal my friends

Now I can't use conduits
Now im weak
I feel [swear word censored]

This also doesn’t address the fact that certain covenants are obviously better for certain specs over others for many classes.

Let alone sometimes the same spec’s covenant ability may be overwhelmingly better for m+ or pvp.

Like following some resto druid pvpers they are much more interested in necrolord, but for m+ pve resto druid’s best covenant seems to be night fae by a large margin.

Meaning that my “meaningful choice” for resto druid pvp RUINED my “meaningful choice” for resto druid in pve. Or vice-versa.

Meaning that my “meaningful choice” for feral druid RUINED anything for resto.

And how DARE I imagine possibly healing and then wanting to swap to DPS if my raid group needed it in the same day. How dare I. Systemlands would never allow it-- I need to wait a week to swap back.

“This week I’m going to spend 7 conduit change points and 1 weekly covenant change to pvp THIS WEEK! Sorry raid group, I’m going to PVP this week! Sorry m+ groups and friends! You’re not getting me this week!”

At this point I think “meaningful choice” is turning into mobile app like games where you need to wait a period of time. Only difference is those games expect you to pay money to skip or watch terribly awkward scenes like this.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-05-31-harry-potter-mobile-game-maker-defends-child-choking-scene-which-asks-you-to-wait-or-pay-money

This is needlessly complicated and ridiculous.

Between my guild incentivizing me to not play resto druid, between the frustration of trying to wrap my head around these systems and the rest I’m inching towards quitting.

This mobile gacha game time-wasting nonsense is ridiculous.

All blizzard needs to do is introduce a like $5 per charge fee to “waive” the 1 day wait per charge and this is literally a mobile gatcha game.

In all seriousness, I know you’re meme-ing. But if it was serious (it’s not) I have basically nothing so pretty sure your time spent collecting my tiny amount of gold would be better off doing a proper farm.

Heh I feel you. I never farm gold, just survive off quest/dungeon rewards. I’ll never have something like the brutosaur mount.

Ye, I also just think the brutosaur is pretty silly looking. I really don’t like it at all.
In a game with big cool dragons why would anyone ride that derpy thing-- I don’t understand players here at all. It’s one of my least favorite mounts.

No tea no shade but it’s just a derpy dinosaur. In a game with mechanical steampunk dragons, deathwings and celestial dragons… why that? I don’t get it x_x

Because it allows you access to the auction house from almost anywhere. That’s a massive time saver for a lot of people. No one cares about actually using it as a mount.

I see… I still could not imagine myself ever wanting that abomination. I just can’t stand it. Maybe it’s that I’m so new I don’t use the auction house as much as I could but I literally could not be paid to ride around that … thing and be happy about it.

You just summon it, use the AH, and then swap to a real mount to go anywhere. There are some players who live for the AH. Combine this with other mounts and whatnot, and you can access every convenience of a city without ever having to go to one. For example I use my mount that has a repair vendor on it constantly. Sell all my junk, repair my armor, and keep questing without having to go to town is a huge time saver. For veteran players, the AH is the last thing they ever had to go to a town for.

If you look at a step further away it may not be due to simply implementing the mobile mechanics ingame.

It strikes me as an attempt by a large company to normalise the mechanics in a mainstream pc product.
This will make movements into the mobile market by the mainstream product’s player base, comfortable, familiar and normal.

There is also the bit where the mobile design systems are dirt cheap to make, and charge hundreds of percentiles over what they cost to design, maintain and create… Sorta like WoW during its entire lifespan.

… That is astoundingly insidious if true.

But yeah it really does feel strikingly mobile game esque. And I despise it.

Atleast genshin impact is free to play gacha unlike wow

Until you stop playing.

The devs do not care if the players have a good time, because they are not paid if you have a good time. This isn’t to say that they actively dislike the players; it’s just that they only get paid (and thus, only care) if you stay subbed.

This isn’t paranoia. There are literally seminars some of these guys go to on how to use psychological manipulation to take advantage of gamers. (~https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNjI03CGkb4)

When Bobby Kotick talks about “taking the fun out of gaming”… this is what he’s talking about.

So, here’s the deal: Don’t preorder, don’t buy multi-month subscription packages, and as soon as it stops being fun… leave. Know exactly what you want to accomplish, then go do it. Once it stops being worth the grind, end your sub.

The only thing they care about is money. So, when you’re ready, stop giving them yours.

Having looked at the conduit vendor, there really aren’t many conduits that are tailored to one particular activity. You’re going to be using the same conduits forever.

No,there is definitely more intricacies to WoW then a gacha game.

Even if timegated content sucks and the RNG checks are terrible, I can still find other stuff to do to pre-occupy myself. Compared to some phones games going like

“OH YOU DID STUFF TODAY? OKAY NO MORE DOING STUFF TODAY”

The thing is that a lot of the conduits can fluctuate for some classes. Maybe it’s not super earthshattering but at competitive levels… totally big ><

Like if I go for a resto druid build for PVP I might want to go tough as bark, but in pve that would be a total throwaway.

People have been making the pay-to-win accusation since they introduced the sparkle pony in WotLK. Maybe in another decade they’ll actually be proven correct.

I absolutely adore this image, did you make this? This is absolutely freaking brilliant.
