Any large scale PVP is absolute garbage in this game. Whether it’s instanced battlegrounds (Ashran, AV, etc) or world PVP, the game runs like crap. Was playing in Ashran earlier when the game just came to a halt for like 30 seconds on multiple occasions because it couldn’t handle Rock Mob and Tree Mob along with the players. The chat channel was still active though, so at least we could still chat while we waited for the server to catch up.
Naj and mecha during peak hours are lagfest too.
this game really isnt balanced around massive pvp fights… You will feel totally useless as an arms warrior in ashran.
Ashran sucks for all melee.
This game is approaching the 15th anniversary and yet with huge advances in computing technology the servers are as bad or worse for huge scale PVP as they were 15 years ago. In fact I would actually say worse.
I remember some really HUGE scale battles during the Wrath Zombie Virus and the server lag wasn’t as bad as when 80-100 people plop into Naz.
Actually, when something is hot, its particles are bouncing around. However, when something is cold, the particles slow down. This game runs like cold garbage, left out in the rain.
I **** you not I was doing a invasion in Tiragarde yesterday on my mage alt and at one of the bosses Steelhead or something I think , the female orc I got sharded 5 times in the span of 30s. I could literally not do a single thing. My character just froze as i watched mobs teleport around me. When I DID finally end up on a shard with 4 other people also fighting I insta died.
I can now say in the 14 years I have been playing that one span of 30s was THE worst time I’ve had and lost all faith in what they are doing.
ashran in wod seemed to work fine ( kind of) , not sure why its so broken now
Oddly enough, it seems like Classic WoW handles large battles a lot better than live, from the footage I watched on Twitch a few times. The only time I saw Classic lagging really bad was when they were doing the stress tests and hundreds were all clustered together in the same area.
I suspect a lot of it is signal bloat. We have traits and talents that constantly proc or spam effects to a degree totally unheard of back then.
Ashran is absolutely terrible. I usually end up running at 20-30 frames when literally anywhere else I get around 200+ if I uncap and cap at around 120. Games feels like I’m watching a slideshow in large scale pvp so I cringe everytime I see the WoD loading screen while zoning in to my daily epic bg
Same goes for graphics but those are obviously not as important as stability while playing. They need to update their infrastructure badly. There’s no reason to cut corners and use 10+ year old tech.
Shortly after Vanilla released (once AV was in), I was showing the game off to a friend. The excitement of AV was still very fresh and still felt incredibly amazing, and since he was a big PvPer I showed him that.
I had a very middle of the road PC, and he had AOL DIALUP 56k!!! Now, it didn’t play very well… but it was still playable!.
Fast forward 15 years, I have a screaming, top-of-the-line, bleeding edge PC, and an internet connection so fast that it literally wouldn’t have even been thought possible 15 years ago.
And yet, any time there are more than 20 people in the Drustvar Invasion, the game plays WORSE than that 56k connection in a 40v40. EVERY time it happens, I think about that AV and what a pathetic regression in performance I’m witnessing.
