If they let Shaman tank or added Tinkers with a tank spec, I’m sure you would find more tanks overall.
I’d tank as a Shaman for sure.

I’d tank as a Shaman for sure.
I doubt 1 more person would suddenly solve the tank shortage in pugs
You’d find a lot of people would use a Shaman tank spec, and Tinkers are one of the most asked for “future” classes right now.
There would be more than one more person tanking.
Don’t be so short-sighted.
Doesn’t mean all of them will roll tank though.
Just being realistic.
No, you’re being pessimistic.
Shaman or Tinker tanks would a A LOT more tanks to the game.
It will take action on Blizz’s part to prove which one of us is right though.
whispers I already know which one of us that will be. Hint: it isn’t you.
I think a lot of issues with tanking is they have so few abilities compared to a lot of other specs (Pali excluded).
But I would love to see a new tank spec, Idk something like an ice tank or a rock tank. I’d love a more magical tank like a battle mage
And yet DK, monk and DH tanks still didn’t fix the pug tank shortage.
While they will add more tanks, it doesn’t mean it will make more people want to tank in pugs.
Have you played prot warrior by any chance?
Even though booming voice is better than Devester atm, i still prefer the latter because it clears up an extra button on my bars.
Statement: I’d like a Tinker class that could fill all 3 roles. DPS, Healer with some injections and medicine, and a Tank with some bad-@ss mech suit.
Yes, prot and vengeance are my favorite tank specs.
Prot feels like thunder clap shield block and shield bash. But your right, has more than vengeance or dk
Me as a player, I love magic. I like magic classes I usually play mage arc types. My monks my main cause mw is life. I’d be a mage or Warlock if it wasn’t all dps. Other casters not a fan of
Shield bash is a pvp talent.
You also got ignore pain (something you should keep up 100% of the time), revenge when it procs or you have extra rage to dump.
Intercept / heroic leap to engage targets or move away from bad. Leap is better for the latter as you don’t need to have a target.
Then you got last Stand, Shield Wall and Demo shout as your main defensive cd’s. (Booming Voice turns Demo shout into an offensive cd as well). Avatar is your main offensive cd. Spell reflection is a decent defensive as well.
You got devastate if you run booming voice, which is your “filler” ability.
there is more, such as interupt, shockwave etc. But it may look like prot warrior is just “thunder clap, shield block and shield slam” to an outsider but there is more to it.
For Hunter I think fleshing out SURV would make the most sense since it is melee. But I wouldn’t mind them adding more specs to all classes. Or if they want to go the lazy route just open all abilities up and let us choose which ones we want. But we know that would never happen because they can’t even balance the classes right now
you have me 100% on shaman, not really sure on rogue, hunter absolutely not, the AI for the pet is laughable and there is no way a pet has the control to tank
Or maybe they need to make the existing tank specs fun to play and give them more than 1 balance pass over the expansion.
For example I loved prot paladin last expansion with the legendary helm being able to bank 2 hand of the protector charges for group healing. They need to place a big focus on fun again.
All the dps warriors, dh, paladin, Dk, etc that are not tanking now are not suddenly going to swap roles when a new spec comes out.
nameplate addons do this
All for Murlocs! We already know they have caster and hunter type classes just from mobs we’ve encountered.
Hold on, let me dust off my metamorphosis spell and I will try tanking for you
Thinking about rerolling prot pally, any suggestions on gearing, as well as likelyhood of finding a raiding guild as a tank?
The only way to solve the tank shortage is to get players to want to tank. Creating new tanking classes will do nothing if nobody wants to take up the role.
There have been a ton of discussions on how to address this ranging from “Be nicer to tanks” to “Give bonus drops to Tanks”. It’s a complex issue. I personally retired from Tanking because I straight up don’t play anymore. My friends quit and my dungeon pace is ill-suited for M+. Other players who used to Tank have their own reasons. Address the myriad of reasons and maybe the Tanks will come back.
