This Game Needs Difficulty Modes

In all aspects of the game.

Layering could come to the rescue. You select difficulty on the questlog and it moves you to an Heroic layer.

If you’re /played is always in HC mode you get a transmog set for each zone once you finish, and quests award more gold. On normal mode you also get a set but it’s not so flashy. How about a Mythic mode as well?

You know I know for a fact people will instantly think “Well why would I do that it takes longer?” Well, I would do it personally because what matters to me is the minute-to-minute gameplay with a genuine feeling of threat. The default game will never go back to being challenging, so just as dungeons and raids have mythic, why not the open world and any story scenarios? For that matter why not levelling dungeons have a HC option with better rewards? Maybe people will complain-- but you know they normally accept more effort=better rewards, which is very much the case in raids and dungeons at max level.

Especially with those scenarios as well, oh how unbelievably dull they are on ‘boss’ fights. Take the rescue Baine, just standing at the mobs feet and smacking buttons (may as well be random buttons).

Nah. That is why people created the Leveling Challenges. We could have some Leveling Challenge Achievements though.

Just remove some gear and make your own difficulty levels.

They have them. There are heroic and PvP expeditions, heroic/mythic dungeons and raids, and even BGs that are rated. There’s plenty of challenge out there that rewards custom items.

I don’t even care about the rewards, but a decent challenge in the questing world would be welcome by me. Add some spice to leveling anyway.

How can people be SO opposed to something proposed as entirely optional?

I was talking strictly about the open world, story content (such as scenarios) and levelling. Removing gear is NOT a solution, it is a compromised artificial form of difficulty-- why you may ask? Well, this is an RPG and gearing is a PRIME feature. Saying "Make it hard by removing or gimping/breaking a core element’ is like saying playing with one arm behind your back or with only the one side of the monitor visible. That doesn’t count.

Oh and explain why you want to downvote.

A mythic world slider would work for a lot of people who want a tougher, co-op heavy world.

Though an argument could be made that the world should just be tougher than it is in general.

one of the fun things about leveling is upgrading your gear. Retail is so easy gear doesnt matter and you get upgrades every 10 minutes. If Leveling was a challenge gear would matter again which would be nice. imo

i just want to say i love this idea. Wont happen though, so i will stay in Classic

Adding more difficulty options will only separate the community more. No thank you.
