This game is way better than FF14

I love ff14 for its story

As it stands right now, ff14s story is leagues ahead of WOWs.

Endgame however, ff14 cant hold a candle to WOWs.

All of the quality of life improvements over the years, nothing can touch wows raiding/pvp.

Ive never cried because of a cutscene but ff14 had me sobbing. That is how i knew the story was special. Wow has never made me tear up other than anduins theme at varians tomb in stormwind. The music in wow is legendary.

Both games has their strengths and their weaknesses, both are good games in their own right.

That’s great and all, if you like PvP.

I’ve tried WoW PvP a number of times and it’s always the same: those with gear stomp all over you, the starting player, and certain classes are overpowered, blah blah blah.

That’s why I like the idea of XIV’s PvP chucking gear out the window and making it all about aesthetics, the only thing that really matters in the end run (even WoW players say this).

At least then, you have more of a fair chance, and it’s all about your skill vs their skill rather than someone with 3x your health that you can’t possibly kill no matter what kind of skill gap exists.

I play both.

They are better at different things.

This is what certain people in this thread refuse to understand.

Note: I am talking about people from both camps.

Both games do different stuff awesomely.

But, you got the WoW players in here constantly dissing story like it’s bad or something (it’s not), and you got XIV players in here dissing the various stuff that WoW could really improve upon (like braindead 3-4 button specs and/or the lack of story).

Both sides need to grow the frick up and realize that both games are awesome for their own reasons. WoW had a bit of a downer episode that was Shadowlands (and BfA, too…), but you know, XIV had one of those too. Most XIV players didn’t like Stormblood that much (I thought it was fine, but I hear lots of complaining against it).

Here’s hoping that Dragonflight ends up being to WoW what Endwalker was/is to XIV.

And, you people who are firmly on one or the other side: Take a chill pill. There’s no need to get so vehement with the dissing of the opposite game. There’s no shame in admitting where each game does good.

Stormblood is underrated and Heavensward is overrated. Yeah, I said it.

I … don’t disagree.

Well, not entirely. Heavensward was rather awesome in its own way. It was also so very dated. The locales, the story, the dungeons were awesome but yet HW kept a lot of the old mechanics that simply needed to be chucked out.

Stuff like Paladins still being able to use single daggers. IIRC, that was a mid-to-late HW thing that they finally brought Rogues in and converted all the single daggers to swords.

Kinda like how, when you look back on TBC, you realize that there’s a lot of things it did awesome, but there’s a lot of things you go “why did they keep that?” … for example, refusing to let you change your spec without dumping exorbitant amounts of gold.

I could never get past level 10. The clicking simulator from all the chat boxes…
Wow is just so much better in all the aspects lol.

They are different though.

A game can have nice aesthetics and crappy graphics, much the same as a game can have good graphics, but a crappy aesthetics.

Do I honestly have to provide examples?

“Good” graphics is very subjective in of itself.

When you say “Good” graphics, are you talking about something pleasant to look at, or are you talking about high fidelity?

I will see games that are pleasant to look at, that people will scoff at because they aren’t 4k or even upscaled 4k, and they will go “pfft that looks like a phone game” and I’m going " … what?" because to me, it looks fine.

Now, there are games that have high fidelity graphics, but yet it’s all nothing but greys and browns and are entirely depressing, like most modern military shooters. I genuinely roll my eyes when people fawn over RTX in some CoD-clone game. I mean, like, who cares if the metal on your gun shines in a specific way? The whole environment looks like the most depressing thing ever.

Or even within WoW… I like the Dracthyr starting area: it has… gasp GREEN GRASS.

When’s the last time we saw GREEN GRASS that wasn’t in that puke-worthy Zuldazar place with all of those stupid cliffs?

Forbidden Reach was awesome as a starter area, I rather liked it. Compare that to, say, Maldraxxus. Some people like that place. I think they are crazy, personally. It’s an eyesore that I’d like to visit as infrequently as possible.

Did you manage to keep a straight face while saying that?

There are merits to XIV’s PvP system, certain things it does miles better than WoW’s.

It prioritizes strategizing on a unit scale, rather than individual players pressing buttons… oh wait, it’s more about gear than what buttons you press when it comes to random battlegrounds.

The fact they removed button press order and gear from the equation means that the team that wins, is the team that coordinates and communicates better and I can certainly see that having appeal to some people over the individualism that WoW’s PvP encourages.

Meh I love WoW I really do…but the community is just sociopathic, FFXIV is so different in that regard, yeah we have a few “Content Creators” that have come over from WoW and are actively trying to poison the community, but for the most part that’s failing, and they are heading back to WoW.

I play WoW only when it’s with my friends…and I do my best to stay away from the cancerous community…

So, I made two new characters within the past few weeks, a Worgen Warrior and a Dracthyr.

With both characters, upon arrival in SWC, and within 10-15 seconds, the Trade Chat had me rolling my eyes so hard that I was afraid they were gonna roll out of their sockets and across the floor.

I wound up doing a /leave 2 within a minute or two after reading some of the absolute garbo in that chat.

“Trade (Services)” my behind. It was a bunch of Tiktok-level garbage stupid drivel that sounds like it came from 30 year olds who act like 12 year olds and have mentality to match.

Clicking Simulator might be the Best Definition Ive Heard So Far to describe ffxiv, you couldnt have described it any better

So you don’t like reading story. We get it.

Thankfully, there’s games out there that have almost no story that are full of pushing the same couple buttons over and over and over again every 0.5s just so you feel like you have something to do constantly because if you had to go any longer than 1.0s without pushing a button, you’d go insane.
