This game is way better than FF14

I am a newcomer to WoW from FF14. As someone who played through it for hundreds and hundreds of hours and completed Endwalker, WoW even in it’s retail state is so much superior. Everything from the combat, class specs, aesthetics, graphics and pvp. Ff14 allows you to play all classes on one character, but honesty they are all so boring and the combat is dull. The only fun classes are really Dragoon, Assassin, Monk, and BM. The story and characters are better in FF14, but the graphics are horrendous and muddy too.

FF14 has an okay story, but terrible gameplay compared to WoW.

WoW is certainly a lot more smoother than FFXIV but the fans will fight you to the death over it.

Come on now, superior?

Maybe better combat, but FFXIV’s graphics, models, EVERYTHING is FAR superior than WoW’s!

Hello, I see you posted a thread about the greatest, best, largest MMO on the planet, FF14. I have no choice but to question the validity of this thread considering someone that has played through Endwalker would know that FF14 has no beserker job, haha!

Thanks for your post and have a great day!

All 4 expacs had massive beautiful main hub cities, but the zones were FUGLY

I adore FFXIV for the story. The gameplay is ok but wow definitely has it beat in that category. Wow couldn’t touch FFXIV’s story telling with a 10 foot pole though. That’s what keeps me invested in FFXIV.

I’ve been craving the more gameplay focused game as of late so that’s why I’m back here. Been here for 16 years and doubt I’ll ever truly leave.

These kinds of threads puzzle me. People will play what they want to play. If I don’t like a game, someone telling me it’s the best in the world won’t change my mind. And if I do like a game, them telling me it’s awful is also meaningless.

Seriously, who is so stupid that they can’t tell if they like something or not?

I’m recently playing WoW with all my FF friends since it’s currently in a content downtime.

Feedback from them and myself:

  • Moment to moment gameplay is better in WoW.
  • Content difficulty is scaled better (it’s a much bigger drop in difficulty from normal to savage in FF which puts a ton of people off).
  • It’s not like a ‘dance’ which you have to master, fewer skills but more reactivity needed.
  • You get a better feel for your class from much earlier in the levelling process, in FF some classes you don’t really get crucial stills until 70/90.

I think only real downside I’ve seen after coming back is that there are a few more rotten apples here (some people just leave when a first attempt fails) and general ‘GL guys let’s do this’ statements aren’t a thing. Or even conversations are kinda rare unless you’re in a guild.

I played FF14 for about a month & I agree. I skipped all the cutscenes & ignored the dialogue so I had no clue what was going on though.

One minute I’m in a forest with elves & the next I’m in some desert city with anime gnomes.

They’re not doing it for you though. They’re providing feedback after trying this game.

Playing a FF game and skipping through the story is like playing a fps to run around and explore.

Funnily enough I do that on Overwatch

Of course Wow is better. I really think FF14 promoters have an inferiority complex. They can’t just let the game speak for itself, and they must force people to believe FF14 is sunshine busting out of every hole.

I’ve played WoW since 2006, FF XIV since right before Heavensward and I like both. My only gripe with FF XIV is that I have to do every single story mission just to progress through each expansion to get to the latest one. I hit 60, beat Heavensward and still have 2 expansions to go before even getting to the latest one.

Now mind you I’ll do it I just really wish I didn’t have to wait till Endwalker to unlock the classes or get certain things only accessible in Endwalker. I’ll eventually get there but I can only handle the linear story so much before I have to log.

Otherwise I like the game. In the end I always come back to WoW. Way too much invested in this game.
