So I did a boost from level 90 so i could play with my two sons. We were doing some quests and my son ran up and says “This sucks Dad, This is were Varian Dies” Well I watched the cinematic and it was horrible, *Spoiler Alert Guldan crushes him dead, in this sort of way that makes you feel horrible inside even tho its only a game… That part i get lol.
So long story short after this happens we are out questing and we get teleported to Stormwind and Varian is in the Castle lol. My oldest tells me it must be a bug, so a few hours later I go to my Garrison and there is Varian standing there alive. So as I am laughing on the mic my oldest says basically that isnt right, it shouldnt be like that. So we log out thinking my game is bugged, I log back in and he is still in my garrison, so i hearth back to Stormwind and now his son is the king only hes like 30 years older then he was 3 hours ago? What in the heck is going on here please? lol
Did the boost screw up all my timelines for my account?
Let’s just say once content like say 6.2 is not current they never decide to update toward the current timeline

The garrison one I don’t think should change. Varian gives the shipyard quests right? That was in the previous expansion before he died so it’s fine. Just like how Garrosh appears in Stonetalon.
Stormwind was probably a bug or something. Anduin got a model update in Legion and again in BfA to reflect his current appearance. He’s still only 18 or 19 years, but not a kid anymore.

Parts of the game are stuck in time; others aren’t. It can be very confusing especially for new players. I wish we could play through events in order of release and then have the game phase only after certain events have been experienced by our own characters but that’s not how it works

Well here is why i think its broken, on my undead when i log in, Sylvannas is the warchief and Garrosh and Vuljin are no where to be found, it just seems like I have the ghost of Varian running around on my alliance guy. I mean I do understand that some of the things in the past are not current, like even tho I killed Arthas he is still in icecrown.
It just really feels like Varian is running around in my current world for some reason.
There are times when there are 2 warchiefs hanging out in Org. I can’t remember which of them it is though. I have Vol’jin in my Horde garrison since I refuse to do the quest just to have him hang out. I’ve done the same for Varian on all my alts lol.
Some people are saying immersion. How? Rofl
He isnt by the ships, hes standing next to Khadgar in my Inn i think or maybe its my lumber mill. Well I will log in and check actually, I cant remember which building. Its the one Leroy Jenkins walks to if you have him.
They really should fix all the timeline stuff soon, it’s getting to be a mess. Looks bad coming from a AAA game studio and it can’t be making a good impression on new players.

Gul’dan didn’t crush his head. He disenchanted him.
I cheered when he went up in green smoke!
Ok, a guy in the guild says that maybe I did a time traveling daily dungeon and thats why varian was the king in stormwind after he died. I guess they added new dungeon modes since I last played.
Thanks for the help, it was confusing. I guess I can see why hes in my Garrison now, the stormwind thing threw me for a loop. I guess him being in my garrison wouldnt be much different from the work I did in my farm. Its just weird because for me the horde leaders who passed away in the story are no where to be found, they are all gone.
He’s supposed to be there. When you open the shipyard, he should leave.
Personally, I have him trapped in time on all my alts. Sometimes I go visit him.

I do the same with Vol’jin. Hold on to that exclamation mark forever, Vol’jin!

consider like content all in phases…so when you go out into older content the timeline is phased to that period…i mean it snot the greatest head canon but it helps

Each xpac is locked in time. Thats why theres a Dalaran in Northrend and the Broken Isles

You’re a time traveler. When you go back to previous xpac content, you’re journeying back in time.
A seasoned time traveler wouldn’t be shocked to see that people who were alive in the past are alive in the past.
