This game has lost its appeal

One by one, my real-life friends have stopped playing.
There are no new young players joining the game anymore.
Most of the friends who come to try it out quit after reaching max level.
A small number manage to complete the normal raid.

But as soon as progress moves to Heroic difficulty, everyone realizes they need to farm M+ to keep up.
Otherwise, they’ll become a burden to the team.
And yet, the M+ environment is extremely unfriendly.

At this point, it seems like PvP might be the best option for these players.

Can I have your gold?

M+ apologists on their way to this thread to tell you it’s your fault for not wanting to play the same dungeon 300 times (with one of the most toxic playerbases that exist in the modern day) for a 5 ilvl increase

Pvp is just a casino fest right now specially solo queue and solo random queue rated (aka blitz) so unless you’re enjoying pvp in general I wouldnt recommend it as another escape lol

All you need for heroic is normal and delves.

It is :nail_care: nowadays is a fast-food period, the most people dont have much time to repeat boring tasks, obviously ,PVP is the right way :smirk:

M+ is useful for heroic raids, but isn’t necessarily required.

Delves at R7-8 will help the cause, especially if you run them with a friend or two. Upgrading via currency and whatnot too. Crafting as well via sparks.

Also, consider joining up with a guild or community that are interested in late normal/early heroic progression. Take a look around at your options.

If you can, look at what gear you get. Tier gear is great. Non-tier gear, but in the same slot is useful too with catalyst charges.

Edit: And finally, make sure to eyeball the class guides. Make sure you’re running the spec optimal for the content you do. Do ST bosses with ST specs, m+ runs with m+ specs, etc. The class theorycrafters are generally pretty solid from class to class, spec to spec. Look at the guides available, and see if anything looks significant.

This is one of the few games where when you reach max level that’s when you ‘can finally play the game!’; there’s even MORE things to do. They should check out all the max level content.

It’s because the entire game has become a minecraft server with different mini games and the wonder and fantasy of the world is gone. It’s just all about improving your gear.

Has anyone considered whether delves are actually fun or not? What compelling solo gameplay is there that is better than elden ring or baldurs gate?

Why do I want to be IN the world of Warcraft? This shared space with others. Factions mean nothing, the story is soy and boring, there’s no interesting questlines or zones like with suramar.

It’s just dragonflying zooming around from most efficient way to get gear to next most efficient way to get gear. Hell, even renown now doesn’t give anything fun or cosmetically cool. It just gives MORE STUFF FOR GEAR.

Let me know when the game is an RPG again

We’re all just here hoping one day another MMORPG that isn’t a WoW clone comes along and dethrones it so we can jump ship like we did with UO and EQ in 2005-07

PvP is the only reason I’m subbed aside from looking fashionable AF.

M+ is a must, especially when all your guild members are 619+.
It’s essential when you’re preparing to farm the final boss trinkets.

No you don’t. Quit spreading misinformation.

Treat your friends better, yeesh…

Pretty sure when someone needs to tell you to treat your friends better… it ain’t other people around you that is the problem.

Are you accusing me of spreading misinformation?

Are you even playing the game?

Some people rarely run M+ , and guild members often complain about their poor gear and low performance. H7 and H8 can’t even clear,

yet they’re fighting over heroic raid trinkets and set pieces.
Haven’t you encountered this? Are you sure you’re playing the game?
This is very common in the guilds I’ve been in.

In our guild, players who never run Mythic+ are now at 605+ item level.
Players who only run Mythic+ 5-8 are at 615+ item level.
Players running Mythic+ 9-10 are now at 620+ item level.

This is what happened to me as well. So many people I played with were so hyped for Shadowlands. Many of them saw the anima grind and quit. Then Korthia dropped and almost all of the rest left and never came back. A handful came back for Dragonflight and were gone before season 2 dropped.

I have one mount collecting friend who was like my last holdout I’ve been talking to for years and they’re barely on anymore.

It’s sad BUT the game hasn’t lost its appeal for everyone maybe it’s just not for us anymore? Anywho if I’m finding it fun I’ll play and if I’m not then I won’t. I’m absolutely hitting up this 20th anniversary event because it’s amazing but then I think I’m gonna rush KSM and unsub until season 2 and see if anything fun happens.

Take a short term or long term break if the magic doesn’t come back at least it was fun while it lasted!

Why do people keep saying this?

Have you ever encountered players under 25 years old past year?
The youngest player I’ve encountered is 24 years old.
Most of the people I know who are still playing are 30 years old or older.

I play 4 characters in TWW and I’m in 4 different medium sized guild. All 4 of those guild were really active until 2 weeks ago. Those 4 guilds with around 25-30 people always online are now completely dead, it’s good if I see 3-4 people online at anytime. Never in my history of WoW has an expansion being this dead that early. Let’s not talk about my friend list, usually there’s like 10+ people always online running keys/raiding, now it’s good if there’s 3 people playing.

Probably a lot of factor are contributing to this exodus of players, but it’s not looking good if we’re stuck in this underground half-baked expansion for the next 1.5 years minimum.

Anyway, back playing WoW Classic hardcore. A true game

I can’t confirm ages but people talk about their kids playing, and newcomer chat is filled with inexperienced gamers trying it out. How would anyone go about even confirming this beyond some way to get put on a list that day?

What your group of friends are in a similar life period? Surely that makes it conclussive.
