This expansion did World PVP correctly

I’ve never really liked World PVP. To me it’s just ganking, there’s no art, and it’s always someone dunking on someone with way less gear. It wasn’t impressive. But I have to say, Dragonflight really made it fun.

Targeting specific zones via the Spark of Life quest sort of made World PVP like a new giant arena/battleground each week. The crate drops, warmode, and balancing changes have been as good or better this expansion. It actually makes the Caverns fun!

The other thing I’ve come to love about world PVP in dragonflight is that it doesn’t even pretend to be fair and balanced. It’s a disaster. And because of that there’s no honor - people just pile on. There’s this fun little dance where you go farming quest objectives until some Bravo tries his hand. And he might get the kill, but then it becomes the Royal Rumble.

And it’s really just so fun. I can’t say enough good things. I don’t fully like the Cobalt Power Up thing, but otherwise it’s 100% an improvement from before. Kudos and cheers!

Yeah the Cobalt one sucks, it’s basically Torghast in PvP, but the rest are pretty good.

If you’ve played the PvP world quests in Legion, they were pretty similar to these- getting both factions to meet up in an area (crates) or having total free-for-alls.

I’m glad we got them back.

I feel like I wasn’t really doing them in BfA and SL, because the systems and gearing prevented me from enjoying the PvP, but now that’s not an issue anymore.

Simple is good, and that’s what we’ve returned to.

Oh see I find that one hilarious.

I was an inch away from getting ganked there the other day and desperately clicked on a mote and it happened to have the “5 minute invincibilty” power. That was deeply satisfying.

The whole game can’t be that obviously but for a single world quest it’s nice to have a little chaos.

By fun means that a full geared PvP player can one shot you , or you need to suffer in random BG’s until you get gear so you can fight back and not die instantly

I don’t suffer in BGs, I love them. PVP is life.

I’ve just had a lot of bad experiences with that one, due to one giant player with like 40 powers activated, that would camp the area, sometimes in a group, for I assume, bloody tokens.

It was hard to just finish that world quest sometimes, I’d just leave it and come back when no one was there. Kill the little elementals instead of players.

Now that the tokens aren’t as important since it’s mid-Season 2, you don’t really see folks doing that anymore.

For me, WPvP won’t be done correctly until Blizz gives us the option to play on true RPvP realms without Warmode.

Yeah I thought that was bad. Because only people who think they’re gods go to PVP realms. This allows the middle-tier players to dabble. Which means there’s more PVP. Warmode is the correct choice.

That’s fine, let them do Warmode - but give other players the choice. Let the “god” PvPers (as you said) go to a realm to kill each other in a community if they want.

Organic, community based WPvP was some of the best fun I’ve ever had in WoW. Blizz took it away. The disruption that non PvP RP players have when Blizz phases their cities also happened to RPPvP realms - which don’t exist anymore.

Eh, not really. Most of the time people left each other alone, but there being that ever-present risk made the occasional cooperation that much more meaningful. It just added a certain element to open world play that I don’t think Warmode does.

Agree to disagree. This is the best it’s been.

TBC zone events and BfA Battle for Naz and WM incursions. Talking about objectives/faction pride (not talking about class or gearing design, of course).

DF wPvP is lacking and generally dumb. It is just who outnumbers whom and which class/spec outpowers the other.

Najatar was a great zone visually and sucked for PVP imo.

I find it hard to compete with Dragonflight. The zones are better than anything in TBC with the exception of Isle of Quel, and its optional now so you get more players.

World PVP has always been about OP specs and numbers. When hasnt that veen thr case. The tuning is decent right now (nerf cyclone) and as i saod before, warmode even makes the caverns fun.

Ahh c’mon, you can get 8 pieces of WPvP gear within a week from quick world quests and using bloody coins for the rest, and two resets of sparks quests to turn your weapon into a PvP 447. Gearing for PvP has never been this easy.

I preferred the BfA incursions/AOO and Nazjatar battles between Newhome and Mezzamere. DF is better than SL at least.

I also really liked the Legion PvP WQs. Especially the Highmountain one.

Bumping this because tonight I did Duck Jousting, and you guys are nuts for disagreeing. The World PVP this time around is just fun and awesome.

…Let me guess… You can zoom away from fights quicker with dragonriding and dismount other dragon-riders.

Because really, any of the things you’ve said… can be applied to really any expansion post Legion. That and i don’t see any or much of a noteworthy difference between Dragonflight’s WPvP and other expansion’s WPVP outside of Dragonriding.

You didn’t need to guess, I told you in the post you replied to. Duck Jousting.

…So Horse jousting back in Wrath but with Ducks. Okay.

Okay, i google’d and… it’s just a WQ in Warmode. Nothing as heavily involved as the former.

I’m sorry it doesn’t meet your expectations.
