This is like saying the expansion looks like a Lamborghini Aventador, so it must be one.: https://cdn.motor1.com/images/mgl/MoVM6/s1/lamborghini-sc18-alston.jpg
Instead, it runs on this engine (an electric scooter battery): https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/7146Cn3lcOL._AC_SX355_.jpg
The expac looks gorgeous, but it doesn’t change certain problems.
Despite promises to lessen RNG, it’s actually gotten worse.
A. Lessening drop rates in raids. See, I would be okay with this, except raids are flexible. You’ve only incentivized larger guilds to break their raid teams up to get more loot per group and given the middle-finger to guilds that can’t do this.
B. Lessened Mythic+ Drop rates. Have you seen the average number of bosses in some dungeons? There are more bosses now in some dungeons than BFA dungeons added together. And you only get -one- piece of loot? Really? More work, less reward.
C. After the world bosses cycle through once each, there is no confirmation if it’s a set cycle or not. Point D explains why I think it might go RNG. Confirmed false - thank God. https://www.wowhead.com/news=319904/liveblog-of-the-shadowlands-sloot-interview-dec-14-with-ion-hazzikostas
D. Torghast has become RNG which wing will pop up, instead of being like (we had assumed) was a set cycle, potentially locking people from their legendaries for months for the crime of not playing for a certain week NEAR THE HOLIDAYS.
E. Seals of Fate were removed. If you increase RNG, you better have a potential fail-safe. Blizzard failed at this.
F. The Great Vault, while nice, is still RNG. If I were inclined, I could get four choices, but the raid items will always be higher item levels (limiting the pool to actually 2). For those saying this is the greatest thing since sliced bread - remember, it’s still luck-based. It’s -entirely- possible to get things that you can’t even use. In all slots.
Map Design
A. Bastion. More Flight Points. That is all.
B. Maldraxxus - appropriate amount of flight points.
C. Ardenweald - could use more flight points - even the mushroom transport system doesn’t cover the zone properly.
D. Revendreth - for the love of biscuits, give us flight points or underground tunnels to avoid hordes of annoying monsters.
Dungeons and Raids:
A. You’ve crossed the Rubicon. We’ve hit a point where fights are now more mechanics than bosses. Even on normal dungeons and normal raids, it’s dance-dance revolution, instead of having any real tank or spank bosses.
Time Gating:
A. I’m not saying we should get raid or mythic gear. But we have to hit renown 11 or 12 to get increased WQ items, but by then, just our heroic or PVP gear is better. Bruh. There’s, literally, no point in adding this as a perk. It doesn’t apply to alts.
B. Vendors are back, thank you for making PVP a more viable option than actually doing mythics with the lock-outs for guaranteed loot -do you not see the problem with this (I can get a piece of loot in one or two BGs, even if I lose)?
Azerite Traits have NOT gone away.
A. Renown is just your Heart of Azeroth level that unlocks perks. Except you have to grind dungeons and raids for the perks to put in. This is like a Frankenstein’s monster of failure. Just give us our talent trees back and avoid all this jank-ness. Goodness.
B. For people who do not get this and say Covenants and Soulbinds are a better system, let me explain. Azerite Traits were replacing our Artifact Weapons which were replacing our talent systems. Now we have Covenants and Soulbinds which are trying to replace Azerite Traits > Artifact Weapons > Old Talent systems. It’s just adding layers upon layers of borrowed power and making a pointless stack of jenga that falls over at some point. If you gave us talents as a core, then things from expacs on top of it, this many hoops wouldn’t have to be jumped through to begin with.
Class Design:
A. If you’re going to make raids and dungeons with a lot of movement, specs and casters who have to stand still are a failed class design. There are so many mechanics now that ‘turret specs’ as they’re called are pointless. There needs to be a redesign in their future or something to ease their lives. Hunter’s ease versus Mage’s troubles are like night and day. Poor warlocks.
B. For turret specs, there’s no point in escape abilities - everything and their mother has a gap closer (sometimes more than one). They rely on standing and casting and, in content of high movement, they’re pointless to play. They don’t even have PVP anymore.
NGL. Your sentence hit me like a brick there and I’m still trying to decipher it.
I’m going to try and translate what I can get out of it. You’re saying I can’t get a piece of gear out of it even if I lose 1-2 battlegrounds?
At 151 - yes, I sure can. Some of those costs are around 500 honor. I only do epic BGs, friend.
I got to full 184s from PVP in 3-4 days of grinding for 1-3 hours a day on my Shaman before I started replacing things with World Boss and Raiding gear. LOL!
Ya 184 gear … not mythic level dungeon stuff . Why are you trying to ruin it for PvP ers who finally get a vendor for starting gear after years of crying about it?
Mythic 0s are 184. It is mythic-level gear. And I’m not trying to ruin it. I’m saying that the alternatives need to be buffed to match up to PVP, not drag PVP down.
Not sure on all of it and some of it doesn’t apply to my lazy play style, but your comments on map design are spot on. Revendreth, even as stunning as it is, is horrific to traverse.
Waiting for a piece
Of loot from any dungeon to drop, and then get lucky half a dozen times with titanforging is more RNG then anything in the game by a mile.
We aren’t talking about torghast, were talking about world bosses, and their only four of them, meaning, your will
Never be waiting months.
Somehow, I doubt you were doing this. Only the elite of the elite raiders were doing this. You’re probably not in Complexity Limit or anything like this.
Most people were doing this and complaining about it because those people were doing this and blowing them out of the water.
Thought the same thing with legendary drop chances, then it turned out they didn’t put the increased loot chances in higher difficulties like they should’ve.
Let me explain this. There are 4 potential world bosses.
1 Boss = 1 week. 4 Bosses = 4 weeks, 1 month.
If you get even two on RNG, that’s 1 and a half months arbitrarily.
Yes, but do you know what Azerite was attempting to replace? Talents and Artifacts. Now our Soulbinds are trying to replace Azerite, Artifacts, AND Talents that Blizzard removed.
They wouldn’t have to go through these insane systems if they just re-added talents and balanced them properly.
I agree. I’m a casual player, trying to farm anima, using the methods I found on wowhead to do it. This morning has been a frustrating cluster. In Revendreth. Cliffs, chasms, walls, mountains, groups of gold elites… I cannot get to where I want to go unless I just hack my way forward using death after death, which I actually have been doing, lol.
Ok, the purple quest gives 250 anima, now we’re talking! Oh. It’s a raid. I have to group. Flashy lights, locked into my rotation, no time to look around, clickity clickity clickity click.
Alright, fair enough, I’ll just go to Mal, I have the defend quest. Ahh, here’s a new one, run a circuit, hit the accelerators, dodge the slimes, light the braziers. Haven’t done this one, pretty fun, failed a coupla times but that’s ok. Got it! Oh, no anima. Sigh.
I’ve heard of literally no one talking about this to con the system. Hypothetically speaking take 20 people in and get 4 pieces of loot, run 2 raid groups at 10 man and get 2 pieces. Divvying up the raid shouldn’t increase loot quantities.
Timing it nets 2. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about the whole thing, but if you go through your week just scraping by with +1s the loot acquisition rate doesn’t feel bad. It’s when you do nothing but untimed keys that it feels bad.
That’s simply not true. If you stay in the 6-8 key range you’ll net yourself heroic ilevel rewards which means you’ll be competitive with heroic raid quality loot.
True, but that doesn’t mean it’s not nice and improvement over “Here’s a single item, take it or leave it”
Only if you’re behind. I don’t know much about the catchup system but when fully caught up the system is pretty relaxed. Even if you were behind while getting renown for soulbind perks would be important I would not call it game-breaking this early into the expansion.
It’ll matter more when you reroll a character at 1 renown and everyone is at 40 with everything unlocked and your best soulbind is the last one and it’s 2 weeks of grinding renown to feel caught up.
In another year we will have flying so that will help instantly, but at this time this is one of my main gripes. The maps to navigate are as bad as the Argus ones were in legion…awful.
