For others, WoW has turned into crap 10 years ago, for some it turned to crap 4 years ago when BFA launched, and for some they still enjoy the game.

They were well into the process of doing that, quite some time ago.
Theyre doing an amazing job with the new expansion. No need to purge as they have redeemed themselves.

The first time this sentiment-- or similar-- was released to a less than enthused public was around when Burning Crusade was announced.
Apparently, WoW has been dying since.

Oh, I wouldn’t be worried about that because it happened years ago.
Just do what you like in the game and hush. It’ll be fine. 
WoW was “dying” in vanilla.
