As a player that quit in Cataclysm and did not return to WoW until now, I was absolutely blown away with how good the game has become, only to come here and see players calling Shadowlands “the wors expansion ever” due to things like Flight Master’s Whistles being in the game (as far as I understand that item made travel easier).
Progression, adequate gear acquisition and convenience has never been better. Players that are complaining really have been spoiled and really don’t appreciate the amazing game that we have today.
spoiled how? the content is drip fed in tiny increment, spread over several weeks up to several months for no good reason. soul ash and the entire legendary system are horrendous and take the low drop rates and make it much worse when you need to carry around non-legendaries for legendary slots when you need to switch. every single thing in the expansion is designed to slow you, stun you, one shot you, annoy you, pull you around on chains, lock you in place until you click a bunch of pegs, and just utterly ruin your experience. world quests are slow and unrewarding.
i don’t see a single bit of “spoiling.” maybe if you enjoyed being treated like garbage every turn of the way, you’d love this expansion. it would definitely feel like you’re being handed everything you want.
100% accurate. You’ve got your “I’m back to WoW after a long break” rose colored glasses on, don’t worry, it will wear off soon and you’ll be griping on the forums like everyone else.
Bruh take the forums as a perception of what the community thinks of the game.
A very small percentage of the games community actually go on the forums, and an even smaller percentage actually post on it.
My guild fell apart during the holidays and no one came back since then.
Spoiled they are. Just like everyone else. Too used to easy content.
Too used to come online for 30 minutes, get that epic gear piece and call it a day.
Game is not even close to what it has been 10 years ago. Going from catering to hardcore players to catering to very casual ended with the opposite effect. Instead of amassing players who constantly play and continue playing from month to month, we end up with a spoiled community (Whiny and childish. Wahh too hard, wahh not enough loot, wahh im unsubbing) that barely stay a month after launch.
It’s really over for this game. Living from expansion to expansion is not a healthy business plan.
Too bad, shadowlands was actually really good. I finished twisting corridors (8 layers with 3 failures in between and it was a massive fun).
I know it’s probably an unpopular opinion, but I actually loved Cata’s story (except the part with Thrall getting all emotional) and the perfect difficulty of all the dungeons and Raids.
I’m the same way. I left at the end of Cataclysm and came back for the BFA pre-patch. People who complained about BFA had no idea what a bad expansion was. lol. Shadowlands is an amazing expansion so far.
