So i just healed a m0 as a prot paladin. Was literally no problem to do, 3,5k hps while doing about 1.3k dps. The only real downside was not being able to do any magic dispells and no aoe healing tools, but darkmoon trinket helped with that. Mana wise it was completely bonkers, you basically solely heal through holy power so you will pretty much never run out of mana.
Oh yeah… and you get to be a tank, with all defensives, silences and general survivabilities.
As much as i liked it… this playstyle should not be possible lol. Also worth noting: havent played paladin before, leveled up this toon last week. So you could say im a complete noob to paladin.

Doesn’t work in higher tier content. I healed a few above +15 as prot for a meme during the final patch. But it’s not viable at all for anything above a few key tiers of content.

Not surprised tbh. Our prot pally can pull almost the entire night fae wing in De Other Side doing 25kdps + his 1.5-2k hps at the same time. In a M0.

Yes! You get it, that’s exactly what I mean.
Prot Paladins and their Word of Glory always out-heals mine. Both cost 3 holy power but theirs is better and it’s my job to heal. A guildie of mine and I noticed this in Mythic 0 this weekend. Very close ilvl.
Honestly this is why I am not levelling an alt, I really feel like there is going to be a massive overhaul and I really should wait till that happens

Yes exactly this. It is completely broken that the strongest single target heal in the paladins arsenal is about 2 times as strong when used by a prot paladin on a target with low health compared to a holy paladin. Makes no sense at all. I really dont like to whine or anything, heck i am playing the class myself. But it seems completely bonkers to choose prot over holy for healing.
