Third macro tab

We have a general macros tab and a character specific macro tab but how about adding a class specific macros tab. To me, that would be the most useful tab. I’m always using Notepad to transfer macros to new alts.

Or, let us open the macro tabs of other alts. That would work too.

class specific macro tabs would be welcomed.

I rarely ever use the characters tab anymore because my macros are for CLASSES i play…the general/universal tab should either have a LOT more slots…or yeah…give us a tab for the class so every warlock I play can see the marcos in that tab…monks for monks, etc

Big agree on this request. A class specific macro tab would be very useful.

I would also like a better way to sort icons. The current options of “all”, “items”, or “spells” is rather inefficient.

I’d actually like some sort of macro tab, sorted by instance, that I could keep open to click instructions to a group as we are approaching a non-intuitive mechanic that players often fail. The information would be delivered by a raid warning-like message on the screen, so those who were not watching chat would still see it.

The entire macro process is stuck in 2004. I think they regret putting it into the game and want people to use it as little as possible.

The difficulty is that macros are stored server side, not client side. Thus the limit, to put a hard cap on the amount of space used in the db. That makes things like instance specific macros difficult, they’d need to restructure the db, or switch it to local storage and with local storage you open up a lot more surface area for security issue and cheating

honestly if they left it all as-is and just renamed the character specific macro tab into “Warlock Macros” for my lock alts…“Monk Macros” on my Monks…etc…etc…etc…then I think my macro problems are over.

Like all our characters share the warbank now…have warlock alts share a tab of macros…monks, druids, etc.

why.
Copy macros-cache.txt from one character’s folder to a new one, or to alts of that class when a major change is made. Done.

Because not everyone knows about that.

How? Or are you saying a different tab for each class and spec? Otherwise it is no different than a general tab.

And…having to do that EVERY time I update a macro…for the 17 warlocks I have lmao…yeah, just easier to make a warlock macro tab that all my locks share lol

for each class…and yes, that works like the general tab but only that class can see it…locks for lock macros…monk can see the monk tab macros.

the general tab is ok, but just unruly compared to just having class based tabs.

if they can rework the bank so well…this isnt asking for much so we can maybe avoid one more addon to get a bunch of damned errors from or not get it updated half the time

TBH any sort of thing that lets you see data across characters would need a rework of how the entire thing functions. So if they’re working on it, might as well redo the whole interface so it isn’t a relic of 2004.

Bigger screen size, put them all in a single pane so there’s no more copying at all. Checkboxes to mark a macro as character or class specific so they can be filtered, but just allow the entire pool to be accessible from all characters.

actually could do that…
every warlock macro I have is named “WARLOCK” lol…“GUARDIAN”…“UNHOLY”…so they are all together in the general tab…so I do have some ability to organize doing it that way.

I wouldnt be opposed to removing the specific tab if they wanted to…then making just a heading for classes so its just easier to distinguish one from another.

“get an addon”…expecting to hear that nonsense from someone in here.

Yeah…I did a long while ago…and it sucked hozen rump…and when I removed it it literally trashed EVERY…SINGLE…MACRO I had…because it rewrote some crap to EVERY SINGLE MACRO slot that i had to manually delete…on every characters specific tab…and I had like 50 alts at the time so I was biting roofing nails in half the whole time Im deleting all those macroes one by one lol.

I’ll NEVER use another macro addon ever again after that crap.

As you say…this ‘relic’ might need some reworking.

Well, I guess I can accept this, because you seem to know what you’re talking about.

But as a tank, I can see that even in normal dungeons, players are not picking up on these mechanics. They are not getting the practice that they would need to figure out these things with no one’s help, as Daddy Blizzard expects them to do, because that’s how the best players with decades of competitive experience would do. Which would require them to have far more experience and expertise than most levelers would have while doing their first normal dungeon.

And if someone who knew what was coming up had the ability to tell these noobish players, in a way they could hear and understand, the general abilities of the playerbase might improve, and the idea that it’s wrong to help people and pointless might decrease in how common it is. So it could help the community.

Probably if I’m going to ask for something they don’t want players to have and will never do, it should be part of the dungeon journal.
