Assuming Blizzard releases “Classic WoW - Burning Crusade”; do you think it will be possible/an option to copy our existing level 60 character from a “Classic” server to a “Burning Crusade” server?
I would love to play BC on my character, without having to forfeit Classic.
I imagine that would be best for Blizzard as well as the players. A lot of people wouldn’t play BC Classic if it meant a permanent transfer where they couldn’t go back to vanilla or starting over as a level 1. I sure wouldn’t.
BC, if it ever happens, would have to be a one way trip.
The ability to copy, send, but save would be way to easy to exploit.
Guild pools gold. Gives to me. I copy with 100k. Then I pass that gold to next guy. He copies. Ect ext. We all show up on BC servers rich. Except everyone else also does this, so inflation destroys the economy.
They should have Vanilla and TBC as one community, but more separate than how it was before
You can switch to TBC when you’re 60 on that character only, but it’s clear you’re in “TBC” and not “Vanilla” so people can keep playing vanilla if they want to
Only problem with keeping them separate is obviously you can still get corpse camped as a level 60 in Western Plaguelands by a level 70 for example or something
That would be least of the issues. You can just put a low cap to how much gold you can copy/transfer to the BC servers.
The bigger issue I would see (if they were to go this “copy” route) is playing 1-60s level on a BC server. How do the Bloodelf-Paladins/Draenei-Shamans level if everyone is just copying their level 60s to the BC server? Sure they can level by questing, but it will be hard to find groups for instances and it won’t be very difficult to level up professions because there isn’t much people playing 1-60 and selling stuff on the AH.
They can’t level 1-60 on a “Classic” server because then “Classic” wouldn’t be “Classic” with two new races.
Just throwing some ideas, but maybe:
Level boost to 60
Start your professions at 300.
But this way, we will have to surrender the leveling experience of a Dranaei/Blood Elf experience. Which wouldn’t be terrible since most of the content is still 60-70.
I know some might say, the easiest thing to do is just make it a one way ticket to BC… I can only speak for myself, but I’m not playing BC if it means forfeiting Classic on my main.
I think blizzard should make a snapshot of the servers on a particular day, and make that day the 2.0 patch. Every server will have its own TBC variant (Server name - TBC). On that day everything is copied over. Characters, gold, etc.
And you just pay a certain amount to get access to that server (probably similar to a character transfer service).
Then after a month or so the dark portal opens.
It’s not what I’d consider ideal, but I expect it is the option Blizzard will go with.
Personally, if I was running it, there would be a period of maybe 3-6 months during which no copies could be made, allowing those who want to level 1-70 “fresh” could do so.
My reason for not considering it ideal is that I know what people do when copying to the PTR, the not-quite-exploits to maximize the amount of gold and items they have. It would basically mean a pre-bloated economy.
At the same time, I think a move (rather than copy) would have its own issues, especially in making some people feel like they have to pick one or the other - stay in WOW Classic or move to TBC Classic. (Not an issue for altoholics like me who have plenty of characters.)
Oh, and one other pitfall of copies is that there isn’t / wasn’t a race change option or a faction change option back then, so anyone hoping to go mana addict paladin or space goat shaman would have to re-roll, while everyone else would be starting at 60.
Why would you NEED to level him tiwce?
A: choose the classic version of that character or the TBC version.
B: Make it so that when the TBC servers open up, you pay the usual $15 or so for the character transfer and your classic character moves to TBC
I would suggest TBC only servers, with the option for a paid character copy. Say $15.00 per character.
That way, you can start on TBC with a 60, and continue on, or start a level 1 for no charge.
Also, with a paid copy, you would still have your characters on the Classic server, and could continue to play them as well.
Best course of action is to open new classic servers when tbc hits and allow free transfers off of existing servers (now tbc) to the new classic group. It would give a moment for factions and guilds to reorganize and keep classic peeps with classic peeps.
I would hope they would release TBC as a separate a Classic version and leave existing servers as-is. People would be allowed to copy one max-level character from Classic Vanilla to Classic TBC, but additional character transfers would cost money.
