Thinking of rolling on Emerald Dream

I’ve been thinking about rolling on emerald dream for a while now, mostly because of the world pvp, and since the server’s warmode isn’t merged with other servers it reminds me of wow classic wow, where you will fight people just on the server, for the most part :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyways, my question is How’s the world pvp right now on the server? I would be playing horde personally, and also how are the other aspects of the server? pve, auction house, pvp, maybe even rp? How’s the servers population? I love the fact that its 50/50 horde alliance.

Thanks

Sharding is definitely a challenge, and warmode initially fractured the server which made it difficult for wpvp enthusiasts to organize things. In addition, servers being unable to handle large groups makes it difficult to enjoy large clashes in the style of pitched battles that ED is known for.

That being said, I have seen a lot more collaboration on both sides to engender healthy wpvp. You will find a lot of horde and alliance guilds that routinely like to clash with members of the opposite faction. The RP side is healthy as well, and there are multiple guilds with light to heavy RP, depending on your preference. While wpvp guilds struggled at the start of the xpac, they are a lot better attuned to the challenges, such as sharding and server lag, and have their own ways to circumvent these problems - you will basically still see small to mid-scale clashes happening on a frequent basis.

The pve side is reflective of the global trend - tons of horde pve guilds that are far ahead in mythic progression while alliance guilds struggle. That being said, there’s plenty of guilds and community members who simply pve and do not care about the wpvp history of ED.

One thing to certainly take note is that with War Mode it really does not matter what server you are on. Phasing affects us all. What should be the determining aspect that decides your trip here or not, is your interest in RP. We are, of course, and RP server at heart and has been once since classic.

If you are interested and want to try out RP then please come on over. We’d be more than happy to have you. If you are not, or do not want to even try it, then perhaps another server would be better off for you, or even the one you are currently on.

I’m glad there’s a lot of collaboration on both sides on wpvp, Me personally i perfer to solo world pvp. With that in mind, i just solo world pvp, would i have issues with sharding? or would i be okay, since i won’t have a large group or anything. I just love the fact that the pvp is personal, since it’s not a collection of servers.

Sharding affects one and all, group as well as the individual. There is very little to do against it.

I would encourage you to read up more on how sharding works. From your response, it doesn’t seem like you need to server transfer at all, unless a particular guild or server culture entices you. If you’re someone who likes to wpvp solo, there really isn’t a reason to transfer here.

What’s your RP backstory?

Absolutely terrible. Zerg pvp flops from one faction to another based on the whims of how many e-girls a particular GM can woo to his cause. Go somewhere else.

I gather that our new friend here just wants to get in warmode and kill some folks and that he wants those folks to be from the same server as he is. Which is in large part what we have ALL historically enjoyed being a part of. If this is your number one goal, Mdm, then while our warmode might be slightly better at allowing you to see same server opponents - it isn’t perfect. We still see plenty of opposing faction members that are not from Emerald Dream. I do imagine though that we are better off than regular servers to some degree regarding that matter.

Good luck! Join the blue team though - we have lions.

I do a lot of solo stuff out in the world. WPvP is pretty enjoyable, especially now that there are more Alliance participating.

Yes, we do have some sharding, but it’s not terribly outrageous. On the odd occasion I do find myself in a large group, more often than not it was here on ED and I’m not taken somewhere else (which also makes it easier to just tag along while still being solo). I see plenty of cross server people, but also see my fair share of fellow Dreamers.

You didn’t ask, but… I don’t know how the LFG channel is on other servers, but ours seems to be a more fun (and less political) version of trade. (Speaking of, haven’t seen Garthug in a while, did someone kidnap him and make him wear boots?)

Come on over - I xferred here 8 years ago and have yet to regret it.
