I have played on and off since Burning Crusade. I stopped playing about a year ago. I did all the stuff in the underground area of Dragonflight and maybe some stuff after that, my memory isn’t clear. But it’s been almost a year I think. What have I missed? Is it a good time to return?
You have missed just more of the same. New zone for world quests. New raid. New season.
Pre-patch is end of July. TWW launch is end of August.
Definitely worth retuning for the pre-patch.
It’s a matter of taste how much earlier than that you wantto get back into it.

The launch is going to be exciting 
Mostly this last season, season 4, was all about catch up and trying out Panda Remix and it’s been a blast.
New expansion is just starting. There literally is not a better time to return.
