Hey all, I know most DONT care, but I just wanted to get my 2 cents out.
The game seems like a massive chore, and weh that’s the case it’s time to walk away right? The amount of systems is daunting, the once again hamster wheel rep grind is tedious and unfun.
Blizzard really seems to have lost its way, for years now there have been numerous people that would really give good feedback, but they don’t really take player feedback into account. Blizzard has become egotistical “ don’t you have phones “ comments still ring true how “ we know better then you”
Honestly I feel I have to force myself to log in, and that’s not a good feeling. I think it’s time to let go, and I have taken big breaks in the past, but this time I think it’s going to be for good.
What keeps you going? Anything in particular gets you excited to log in?
I have read posts like yours since Vanilla. I myself took a long break during Mist of Suckaria, I didn’t advertise for it. Just go. You know you’ll be back. They know it too.
Is there something you’re looking for out of the reputations? They aren’t really required for anything this time around aside from some memories or profession recipes to my knowledge.
Except the majority of the systems are designed to be done at your own pace. None of them are "mandatory " besides soul ash for your legendary, and you can take as long as you want to craft it, nobody’s forcing you to keep up with the mythic world first racers.
wtf, u have like 2 (and the callings but that work like emissary) Weekly quest and just 2(or 3 with more rep) dailies in maw and now u dont need to rush reps also u dont need to do EVERY world quest in all maps LMAO
Well I suppose I like the actual combat, especially in dungeons and becoming more powerful, which is now very much the case with M+. Sure, we’ll have to toss all that power away in two years, but so what? That’s the route of games these days.
I like the systems, not the time-gating, as, for two years it changes up how we play, what skills we prioritize, etc.
But hey, if the game’s not fun for you anymore, it makes sense to leave.
Give it time, what do you want to log in get a free legendary and then just power it up like BFA? I am one to get bored of the rep grinds and If all I have to do is Grind Covenant thats fine, its when I have to grind rep with multiple people and then have multiple dailies that need be done or fall behind…
If you think there’s too many systems, you’re doing unnecessary content.
There is a LOT of random grinds you can do in Shadowlands, but basically the only ones that are truly necessary to character progression are your weekly Renown quests and Torghast.
And of course, actually doing the endgame like M+ or Raids, which come out in a few hours.
Classic wow is making up for the dissapointment that SL has been for me. Yeah im not thrilled i dropped $60 on timgateworld, im not thrilled i casually burn content up in the first two days of the week and dont even log in on the weekends anymore other than maybe some light chore work like the mission table…
In retail im now waiting for them to detach the maw and torghast from roadblocking the campaign so i can progress, and otherwise im just doing the daily WQ for rep and nothing more really. Sure ill get my capped renoun later today or tomorrow…but thats it, i really have no drive in this xpac.
I afer being pissed off at my bad choice for my $60, i logged into classic wow to try to get some value, and fell back in love with the whole classic wow experience. This might be for me im thinking.
Pretty much everything i come to hate about retail is gone in classic, and theres an actual active community that i cant seem to avoid while playing, 1000% polar opposite of retail. I team up, chat, interact, goofy things happen out in the barrens and its a good time.
Is retail a lost cause? at the moment its just an ego showcase for overly ambitious devs/designers to show off their newest player management systems masked as game modes…i feel retail has little passion for the game or for the spirit of the game. Im not sure if they care enough to bring it back, and sort of feel they all look back at classic wow and how successful the game use to be with an arrogance and detest.
This very well might be the last xpac i buy for retail, at this point i think id enjoy retail a lot more being a “base game” player and just putzing around one xpac behind everyone collecting mogs and mounts at my own pace.
I’ve always played this game for the combat, I spend most of my time questing and doing low level BGs because that’s where I enjoy the game the most. I’m currently about to graduate from college and I’m preparing to enter into professional school which limits my time dramatically.
I normally play this game as a scape goat, I play for a few hours maybe on a weekend and then I’m done, and that’s the extent of it because I don’t have the time or commitment to make a progression character for raiding or mythics.
I guess in summary, If you like the game then play it. If WoW is really boring or upsetting to you then move on to something else.
The game will always be and always has been, doing things for stuff. That stuff makes what you do easier along the way, so you can do harder things for more stuff. You have to find what you enjoy doing to get stuff. People mention grind and I suppose it could be but if you don’t mind doing what your doing it’s just playing the game for stuff.
If you feel the game is a never ending grind (which it really is), then maybe it’s time to move on.
