Maybe add it to priests named void cultist/ravager or some such.
Its such a popular school of magic locked to 1 spec, I think people would want to see it expressed in other ways.

Like shadow priest? Just run into melee, it’ll be fine. If there’s anything this game doesn’t need, it’s more mdps specs.
We will become the blueberry
I’d be happy if Blizzard separated the void theme from priest entirely and returned virtually any pre-Legion version of shadow.
Let void cultists be their own class.
I feel like a void knight would kind of step on Death Knights thematically. They’ve got the “dark inversion of paladin” thing pretty well covered already.
Why do you want a return to old priests so much?
Death knight doesnt use void magic.
Better gameplay experience.
I would also prefer this. I love the void theme, it’s much more thematically interesting than generic “shadow”, and you don’t get tied up with your other two specs being healers.
Since the new dracthyr looks to be a support spec, take shadow priest, remove it from the priest class, lean hard into the void them with maybe a melee/spell caster build, and add a third support spec back to the priest.
No probably not although could see it as a Paladin race skin kinda deal to explain Void Elf Paladins
Play a void elf warrior
Yeah, no kidding.
Void Elf Subtlety Rogue with a purple mog is probably as close as you’re getting. ![]()
To add onto this, this is how I picture it going.
New class,
Void Channeler:
Hero class, races: Forsaken, Void elf.
Specializations:
Rift Blade: Allows the Void Channeler to equip mail armor, and wield two handed weapons. Multiple abilities apply a minor, but long lasting dot “Caress of the Void”. Dot deals minor damage, and stacks up to 100 times at which point it will be dealing substantial damage. Spender abilities consume caress to cast. Reapplication of Caress does not refresh duration, and stacks fall off individually. Void Blade will have 3 buff icons, indicating how many stacks are falling off in 10 seconds, 20 seconds and 30 seconds respectively. Play style is based on sticking to a target, and balancing maintaining a high stack count to maintain a steady burn, while consuming caress stacks that are about to drop off to fuel spender abilities. Tree would be split between focusing on getting high caress stack counts for high burn damage, or on the spenders.
Herald of the Old Gods:
Ranged, caster spec. Focused on the part of shadow currently employing old god/void themed abilities. Primarily focused on the instant damage abilities shadow priests have, in addition to new ones. Mind spike, flay, sear, blast etc. tree would be split between focusing on the channeled abilities which bring cleave/aoe to the table, or the cast abilities for single target focus.
Nightmare: Ranged damage spec, focusing on the emerald nightmare, since it’s a derivative of the old gods. Focusing on the DoT, ghost and insanity component of the current spriest. Tree would be split between a focus on multi dotting, and turning into a ghost machine gun, or on the insanity route with surrender to madness or the ebb and flow insanity mechanic currently used.
Now since spriest is gone from priest, you’d need a spec to replace it. Since the direction of the game may be looking at support classes, that seems a strong direction. Discipline already has shields covered, so I’m imagining more along the lines of a reactive play style. Essentially has a number of instant cast, extremely short duration buffs that have a variety of effects.
Spirit Warder. A priest specializing in ranged support. Designed for the player to monitor and coordinate the abilities used by allies to combine them with powerful, short duration buffs that multiply their effectiveness when timed properly.
Cacophony. Prevents a buff from being placed on this target from the Spirit Warder for its duration.
Endless Rhapsody: Instant cast, applies a buff that lasts 0.5 seconds and causes the next ability cast by the target to cool down 25% faster. Applies cacophony for 3 seconds
Sublime Crescendo: Instant cast, applies a buff that lasts 0.5 seconds and causes the next ability cast by the target to deal 25% additional damage. Applies Cacophony for 3 seconds.
Valorous Note: Instant cast, applies a buff that lasts 0.5 seconds and causes the next source of damage to be reflected to its dealer, up to 100% of the targets maximum HP. Does not apply cacophony.
Eternal Echo: Instant cast, applies a buff that lasts 0.5 seconds and causes the next ability cast by the target to echo, casting 3 times at 10% strength, each occurring 0.25 seconds after the previous. Applies cacophony for 3 seconds.
Obviously none of this takes pvp into account, because A) pvp is dead and B) not every specs needs to be able to PvP, when you can respec into a different class.
But I figure you get a new playstyle for priest, remove the void/insanity theme from the class that people seem to widely dislike, and add a void based class that people have been asking for with play styles that aren’t currently in the game (or are based on the removed priest spec)
A new DH spec called The Nether Piercer.
Void cultist
Imagine if there was a whole alternate version of WoW where you could be this. Made by Blizzard, of course. Like a sequel to WoW.
